We came to Bawarchi for the second time this week, as we really wanted to give it a proper review, instead of a first impression. When we came earlier this week, we noticed the new Indian place in Market 27. Personally very happy about it, as it is a good addition to variety there. As it was the opening week and they didn’t officially open yet, they were giving quite a decent discount.
First we had a vegetable biryani and a lamb curry. The biryani was absolutely great. It had a lot of spice (not heat) and as a Hungarian, the black pepper was actually very welcome. I was sure to try next time one of the meat versions (they have lamb and chicken).
So when came back a few days after their official opening, I had the chicken biryani. Similar spiciness, and honestly, very nice to have something more decently spiced in an area, where mostly families live, restaurants tend to be on the safer side and reduce them, losing on the flavor. The chicken might have been better if it was not breast, but something more jucier, like a bony shoulder or thights, but still was once more a nice experience. Will come back for it!
The meat in the butter chicken was however very nice and more tender.
Strangely, whilethe samosa chat surprised me the way it was served, it might have been even better than the biryani. Absolutely the best!
The chili pakora wa salso very decent, could use more spice, but great flavour and really liked the extra onion in it.
One suggestion however is to add salty lassi to the menu. Currently it only has the sweet options with mango or rose. They can be nice, but if people would like to reduce on the sugar, the salty one is a...
Read more36,85 Euro for a tasteless meal for 1 person. I ordered a korma and it only included basmati rice, which was not true it was the microwave uncle Bens kind. Then I added paratha and raita to the korma. As an appetizer I ordered vegetable samosa, which was good, but the kind you can fry at home too. When I gave my feedback of the food tasting very bland and sauce being very watery, there was only a bit of openess toward the feedback about the raita not being prepared the right way. Very overpriced and very mild on spices. For the unexperienced customers with Indian food, it might be suitable. The plates for serving, when eating in, are very...
   Read moreVery tasty food!!
The restaurant is part of Market 27, a food hall with multiple dining options, right next to the Noord metro station.
They recently opened, less than a week ago. But it already seems they've been there for ages, because the quality of the food they serve, and the service is great!
I tried the Lamb Rogan Josh, it was incredibly tasty. And the paratha bread was really good as well!
They also offer some "combo" options if you want to try smaller portions of multiple things.
I would highly recommend, and will certainly come back to try the rest...
