A Magical Vegan Haven: Koffie ende Koeck, Amsterdam
Koffie ende Koeck is more than just a neighborhood café—it’s a serene, soul-nourishing escape tucked away in Amsterdam. The moment you step inside, you're welcomed into a space that is quiet, beautiful, and impeccably managed. Everything feels intentional, warm, and lovingly curated.
At the heart of it all is Ruby, the incredible force behind the magic. She is pure wonder—a rare combination of talent, intelligence, and heartfelt artistry. Her presence, values, and creativity are infused into every corner of the café. You don’t just see her work—you feel it. It’s a place that radiates kindness, to animals and to people alike.
Her cakes are a revelation: vegan, stunningly beautiful (because yes, the eye matters too), and absolutely delicious. There’s a grace and elegance to her baking that’s deeply nostalgic and yet entirely fresh.
We came for high tea, a special moment shared with my mum. It instantly transported us back to the classic tea rooms of London we used to visit many years ago. As long-time vegans, we had quietly let go of the idea that such an experience would ever come back into our lives. But Ruby made it happen—and did so with grace and heart. She truly won ours.
And then there’s the pricing—incredibly reasonable, especially for Amsterdam in 2025. How they manage to offer such high-quality food and service at these prices is a mystery, but one we’re grateful for.
Thank you, Ruby. We can’t wait to return—you’ve given us back something we didn’t even realize we were missing. And we know you’ll...
Read moreThis a cute little cafe with a great tea selection. The coffee and cake is vegan. The staff were very nice and the service was pretty good. The coffee is ok for Amsterdam - if you’re a coffee fanatic I wouldn’t recommend this place, but if you’re a vegan (or unable to drink cow milk) then the coffee here is not bad at all - otherwise give their selection of tea a go. I usually love vegan chocolate cake - as it is dense and moist - but the chocolate cake here was dry and crumbly, it was a bit disappointing even though the flavour was okay. And the passionfruit cheesecake is not really a cheesecake... but more of a biscuit base with a delicious vanilla slice style custard topped with a very nice layer of passionfruit jelly. It wasn’t what I was expecting but I enjoyed it very much. Overall - it think this is a nice place and I would give them a second visit (in case I just went on a bad day)... Also they have a mini high tea for 2 on the menu that looked really interesting. One thing they could improve is how they greet people when they come in - or even having a little sign saying to just sit...
Read moreReally cute and cosy cafe near the Westergasfabriek. Everything on the menu is vegan, home-made and what I had was yummy. I had a cacao chai with oat mylk which was delicious. Not too sweet and nice and creamy. I also had a latte with coconut mylk and the yogurt with granola which was lovely. Whitw I was there they were baking a chocolate cake and the whole cafe smelt if chocolate. The cafe is small but has a great ambience. Its a nice place to visit with a friend or work on your laptop. The seat at the window would be perfect for that. Its quite easy to get to too. Its a 20 min tram ride from the center and a short 5 min walk from the tram stop to the cafe. Its opposite the Westergasfabriek. They have a nice selection or cakes, sandwiches and even banana pancakes. High tea is also available but reservations are needed for this. Its possible to pay by card here and there is free wifi available. Menu is available in Dutch and English and staff is...
