Extremely Disappointing Experience – Unprofessional and Unwelcoming
During a recent visit to the area, we were looking for a relaxed place to enjoy a light snack. A very polite and helpful young Egyptian man from a nearby sweets shop kindly recommended La Casa de Angelo. Unfortunately, our experience there was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived.
An employee met us at the door and greeted us with a noticeably rude and dismissive attitude. Despite the restaurant being completely empty—both inside and outside—he refused to let us sit down. When I politely asked to wash my hands before ordering, he abruptly responded that the restroom was only for customers, even though we clearly intended to dine there.
His behavior felt not only unprofessional but also discriminatory. It was shocking to encounter such hostility, especially in a business that should value every guest. We felt so uncomfortable that we immediately left.
Shortly after, as we walked past another restaurant across the street, several people asked why we had gone to La Casa. They shared that the restaurant has a reputation for poor customer service and mistreatment—something we unfortunately experienced firsthand.
This review isn’t just based on our personal experience, but also echoes what others in the area have said. It’s clear that something is deeply wrong with how this establishment treats its guests.
I hope the management takes this seriously and addresses the behavior of their staff. I would strongly caution others against dining at La...
Read moreFirst, as most of the reviews tell you, Mario is an excellent waiter.
Second, the food is just okay. If you are looking for authentic Italian, this is not the place. However, the food was fine. I'm from Chicago where we have outstanding Italian restaurants and have also been to Italy. Oh, they also had empanadas and fajitas on the menu. Not sure what's up with that. I'll tell you what we ate here in a sec...
Finally, note that there are many 5-star reviews from people who have only ever left one review on Google (this one). I have certain assumptions about that situation.
Now then... Again, Mario was an excellent waiter. We ordered the focaccia, which is served as triangular-cut flatbread wedges, seasoned with salt and Italian seasoning, and served with butter and hot chili oil. For entrees, we ordered a Margherita pizza, a Diavola pizza, and spaghetti napalitano. The pizza was decent. The spaghetti: cooked al dente; sauce was bland (if you've seen Goodfellas: "egg noodles and ketchup.")
Overall, it's fine. If you have no expectations of excellent, authentic Italian, then you'll probably think this is...
Read moreFood was good, service made it horrible. I ask for another beer, the guy takes my beer with beer still in the glass to get me a new one. This made me write a review. I am just laughing here at how horrendous the service is. Now that I reflect on the night, I was not welcomed. Just "table for one?" was asked. Got some bread on the house, but later this was taken away because it was on the wrong table - big no-no in some restaurants. You really have to ask the waiters to order something. In addition I also overheard the table next to me telling the waiter to step off because he was overstepping his boundaries. Waiters are not aware of their "area's". I was not asked how my food tasted. Service here makes me 🤢🤮. Bye Michael! 👋👋👋👋
Later added: saw a waitress vaping on the terrace, during work, others smoking cigarettes. Behind me, next to me. 😱😱😱 What standards does this place have? This is not an attack on the employees but on management too. There is no control. ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
R.I.P. Hospilality. Gone...
