Greeted at the door, hostess tells me we may not come in until our exact reservation time. Okay fine, you’re a popular place so it’s busy. When we actually went to our table it was quite clear there was no reason we should’ve been made to wait, there was plenty of room. We sat at our table for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, and decided to leave. It wasn’t the 10 minutes so much but instead watching the ladies behind the bar on their cell phones. Perhaps this is why they’re scheduled on Monday nights. There was no obvious management presence, otherwise they would’ve been aware that we hadn’t been greeted and that their staff wasn’t actually making drinks. Such a let down. Place came highly recommended and we were looking forward to it. They have the exclusive arrogance of a popular speakeasy perfected, but they’ve missed almost everything else. Place wasn’t really that nice inside, bathroom was filthy and again the service was non existent. A shameful performance to say the least.

The following is an edit in response to managements reply:

If your staff was moving tables when I arrived, you could never convince me of that. We sat down (contrary to your comments) at a dirty table without menus or water. We received water from someone who breezed 5 minutes after we sat and we never saw them again.

The lady behind the bar was in no way on the bar phone w a guest. It was two ladies behind the bar w their iPhones pointing and laughing at pictures. They weren’t speaking to anyone.

I did drink some water, and after 15 minutes of waiting for a server to take my order I left. I had.no intention of saying anything, however your hostess asked me what was wrong, so I explained to her very politely that I simply don’t have time to wait 15 minutes while the staff is socializing and playing on their phones. Your bartender overhead this and became very defensive, I was not interested in having a conversation with someone who was so obviously wrong, however she persisted. So to finish my evening I absolutely confronted her with the facts and she was unable to handle a direct and honest assessment of her performance. It was only after she cursed me that I made the decision to share my experience with you. Lastly, if your staff checks the bathrooms every 30 minutes that’s wonderful, they should also clean them if there is urine all over the floor and toilet seats. The bathrooms were vile, filthy and smells like a sewer. Shame on you for attempting to defend this.

There is a time to defend your staff, this isn’t one of them. These young ladies were entitled, rude and clearly ineffective at their jobs. Defending this type of behavior will only allow them to think they can get away with this again in the future, maybe they can with you in charge? Clearly you’ll never see me again, a decision I’m sure we’re both happy with, but how many other people are you losing because of this type of service?

Best of luck, I hope things get better and you don’t have to waste your time...

A failure in delivering the speakeasy experience!! I had planned a special evening here with my girlfriend and my parents while visiting Amsterdam. Having even checked the place out in advance and enjoyed a couple of drinks myself, I was confident this would be the perfect spot to celebrate. Unfortunately, the Sunday evening we visited was nothing short of a disaster and I’m not exaggerating. The music was far too loud, which only encouraged the guests to shout over it and completely killing any hope of conversation. The real issue, however, was the group of 7 (eventually 10) grown men in one booth who were just yelling, laughing, and behaving more like a teenage girl house party than adult guests at a speakeasy bar. They were standing up, blocking staff with their drinks, and making it impossible for anyone nearby to enjoy the space. People at the table around us were also visibly uncomfortable, eyes were rolling, and several looked like they couldn’t wait to leave. And who could blame them? Here’s the problem: THE STAFF DID NOTHING. Not a word to the table, no effort to manage the noise or restore the vibe. That’s not just disappointing, it’s a complete misunderstanding of what a speakeasy is meant to be. Let me remind you that the term 'speakeasy' refers to the need to speak quietly in and about the secret bars to avoid attracting attention from law enforcement during Prohibition, keep quite. That subtle and intimate atmosphere is the entire charm and why speakeasies are my favorite kind of bar to visit and search for around the world. Sadly, my parents asked to leave before we could enjoy a second round of drinks, and I think we missed out on what I otherwise feel like are some well-balanced and interesting cocktails. An awful way to end a celebration I’d carefully planned! I feel like it’s not my place to correct other guests, that would only create more tension and ruin the mood. That responsibility lies completely with the staff, and on this occasion, they truly failed their guests and the spirit of the bar. (A rooftop or a proper hotel lobby bar would have never excepted this.) A note to fellow guests: I know it was sunday Pride weekend, and I completely understand the celebratory mood. But if you're looking for a party, go to a pub or the next club down the street. Acceptance and tolerance is a two-way street and respect is...

Amazing Cocktails and Cozy Atmosphere!"

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Door 74 bar, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The bar offers a wide variety of expertly crafted cocktails that are simply amazing. From classic favorites to unique concoctions, their drink menu is a delight for any cocktail enthusiast.

The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, making it the perfect place for a relaxed evening. The dim lighting and vintage decor create a charming ambiance that instantly transports you to another era. The music playing in the background added a touch of sophistication to the overall experience.

I was particularly impressed with the service at Door 74. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the cocktails they served. They were more than happy to recommend drinks based on our preferences and even customized a special cocktail for us, which was a delightful surprise.

The quality of the cocktails exceeded my expectations. Each drink was meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and attention to detail. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. I highly recommend trying their signature cocktail, as it was a true work of art.

Overall, my visit to Door 74 was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of amazing cocktails, cozy atmosphere, and exceptional service made it an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to visit again and explore more of their creative concoctions. If you're a cocktail lover looking for a unique and memorable night out, Door 74 is the...

By far, the best cocktail experience in Amsterdam! Bartenders create & collaborate on the menu. Cocktails challenged the palate & were delicious. No science projects or gimmicks. Andeta, Giulia, & Carlotta were absolute sweethearts. Excellent service with knowledgable, patient, & helpful advice on cocktail characteristics and construction. Our group of 4 were seated seated promptly when we arrived, were never rushed & had a wonderful evening. With Giulia behind the bar, the cocktails were fabulous! A couples nights later, Rich & I went back over at midnight without a reservation. Andeta met us at the door with big hugs & found us seats at the bar. Carlotta was behind the bar & we enjoyed the opportunity watch her construct cocktails & had an in depth conversation with her about different taste profiles & ingredient combinations. We left Amsterdam for a 7 day river cruise & made a reservation for the 4 of us for the night we returned. Giulia greeted us at the door when we arrived having recognized our names on the reservation. Carlotta was working back bar & Andeta had the night off. We had been enjoying our Door 74 favorites & about an hour in, Andeta happened to stop by & joined us for great conversation & several rounds of shots! A comprehensive spirit inventory & creative cocktail construction are clearly vital for a successful craft cocktail establishment. Great welcoming service, such as we received from our friends at Door 74, make a cocktail experience truly outstanding & special!

I had very high expectations coming here, it seems to be fully booked all the time and a “impossible to get a table” image is given to this place as it has its own special cocktails and cozy environment. It’s not a bad spot but it’s not what anyone expects when going there whatsoever. Firstly, they do not pick up their phone calls at all. When you are late 15 minutes they serve your spot to someone-else DIRECTLY. The place is extremely small and everyone is squished in, you need to share tables with RANDOM people if you are not a group of 4. The staff is somewhat friendly but also not really at the same time. The cocktails were fine but nothing really special, that especially did not live up-to my expectations, also very small for 18 euros, a bit more than a shot. It tasted like a cherry vodka mix you do at home. So overall maybe not an extremely disastrous place and its alright but the marketing for this place is not what it is and the prices do not match what you get, I would rather go to W hotel rooftop to drink an actually decent cocktail for that price. Not to mention, theres a seat next to the entrance that was our reserved spot, we sat in the doorway and were told that was our spot. My intention is not to slander this bar at all, I just want people to know what to expect before going there !
