Ter Marsch & Co — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Went here on our second night due to good recommendations. Turned out to be the worst food and service we have had in a long time. We were seated and had to ask for a menu after being sat there for 15 minutes. We then had to wait a further 15 minutes for anyone to take our order. In the meantime, a family of 6 were seated beside us and had also ordered. Their drinks came swiftly; meanwhile we were left waiting another 30 minutes before receiving ours. Also, it was only after the table beside us (who ordered their meal just after us), received their meal, that our waiter realised we didnt have our order. He admitted to us that he had lost our order ticket and then proceeded to notify the bartender of our drinks order (for which had to be corrected). We waited a further 30 minutes for our food. My meal arrived and was missing the fries I ordered, and my nan received the completely wrong order. This was taken away and I was left to finish my meal. I wasn't until 30 minutes AFTER I had finished my meal that my side of fries and my nans correct meal had come. Poor service from the beginning and we expected more than just our 2 drinks knocked off of the final price! In the end, we had waited between 1hr-1.5hrs for our food and had to eat at different stages as we didn't receive it altogether. Our waiter, although friendly and in good spirits, was useless and messed up our evening multiple times! Not my favorite place to go for a bite.

Food: we weren't super hungry so ordered the sweet potato fries and crispy chicken. The chicken was nice, but a bit dry, the bbq sauce was super spicy. The fries were nice but they were delivered to the table in a bucket and covered in truffle sauce, parmesan and bacon. We didn't get plates or any utensils so your fingers were covered in sauce and half of the fries were inedible due to being drenched in truffle sauce.

Atmosphere: Also this was decent. The music was incredibly loud, something I personally can't stand due to sensory issues. It's a place that tries to be cool by pumping the music up to 11 instead of thinking about the atmosphere for the customers. If you have sensory difficulties then this place is not for you. If not for the loud music then for the fact you have to eat with your hands.

Service: Service was decent but came across as rushed. We were there on a Friday afternoon, after lunch rush and it wasn't busy inside but somehow the service felt rushed. Like they didn't really want to serve or help people. We didn't get a menu and so were forced to select of the snack menu. When we paid, when we were done, we decided not to tip. It's not common in the Netherlands anyway and it was 30 euros for some fries and chicken we shared and 1 drink each. We didn't expect it to be that expensive for the little we got. The person behind the bar was seemingly offended so it didn't leave a nice feeling upon leaving the bar.

I give all stars to this place because it is really worth it. It is located in the center of Amsterdam. We had to have lunch and were looking for a good place. As soon as we passed by this place we were very impressed by the appearance because inside it is truly beautiful as a place. It has an area with pink armchairs where there is a piece of really beautiful colored paper behind it, then in the center it has the bar where they make cocktails and drinks where you can also sit there if you only drink something which is all decorated with fake flowers at the top . Really a very elegant design and beautiful to see and photograph. We ordered an excellent meat recommended by the waiter who spoke to us in English and helped us choose. He was very kind and didn't make us wait long in setting our table in the meantime. Before the meat, since the cooking took about twenty minutes, we ordered the popcorn which I can say was very good and tasty. We still haven't figured out what they were covered with because there was a bit of a flavor that they couldn't discover but I can guarantee really good.
