In summary: terrible food, terrible service, overpriced, incompetent staff.
Please read below for a more detailed explanation.
We ordered 3 starters and 3 main courses for 3 people. A simple order. After waiting for close to 1 hour, I politely asked how long the food may take. The waiter went to the kitchen and asked. Within 1 minute, 2 of our main courses arrived. I asked if we would be getting our starters or not and was met with a baffled expression. Shortly after our starters arrived, but only 2 of 3. Again I had to ask where are third starter was before it was delivered.
Eventually all ordered plates were on the table. However, now side dishes were an issue. We had asked for 1 meal with chips and 2 meals with pasta. We were given 1 portion of chips and 1 portion of pasta. We asked where the remaining the side dish was and clarified our order which it seemed he was hearing for the first time. He then took away the portion of chips saying it was 2 portions worth, brought a smaller trough of spaghetti and about 7 minutes later a very small portion of chips.
We had finally recieved our complete order. I'm not sure if it was the bitterness of the experience or the actual food, but it was bland, oily, served on cold plates and almost certainly microwaved.
To add to the comedy of errors, whilst eating the staff who served us were clearing a table and managed to smash a glass during their cleaning. Their reaction was simply a laugh which summed up what seemed to be their attitude, clueless to the point of laughter.
The final cherry on top of the whole experience had to be one of junior waiters who came to ask if we had everything we asked for. We said yes and thank you to ne polite. His response was to mention to us that the power had gone out in the kitchen, that they were working in the dark and thats the reason for the errors. Needless to say, the lights appeared to be working superbly on leaving 10...
Read moreWhere to start... My mother is first generation italian and this is not italian food. Do not eat here!! The capresse salad came with cheap, fake mozzarella and old tomatos on a bed of what I assume was supposed to be the greens portion of the salad. We couldn't even eat the mussels in garlic sauce, they were not even close to fresh and tasted mostly like some kind of rotten fish in a bland sauce. The pizza was most disappointing. We ordered a prosciutto pizza, they gave us a pizza with something in the realm of Canadian bacon and once again the blandest sauce I have ever had. On top of this being the worst food/italian food that's ever made it past my epiglottis the service was aweful and the waiters were reluctant to bring us a couple small plates to share appetizers. They just didn't seem to care about the customers experience. Now we both feel sick and frustrated. We should have checked the reviews before eating but we were starving and figured that you can't really go wrong with pizza, we were very wrong... Frozen pizza from the grocery store puts this restaurant to shame in both the flavor and service department. My only regret in writing this review is that I have to give La Madonnina one star to write it. DO...

It is very well-located restaurant in the center of Amsterdam, especially at night that’s where a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and some clubs are located, so it’s a nice vibe in that area if you want a lively area at night.
The restaurant itself is a typical tourist restaurant that you’ll find in Amsterdam or any touristic city in Europe. The food is average/ good, the service is average at best. The menu is extensive and has many options Italian and non-typical Italian food. It’s overpriced for what it is but again it’s a touristic restaurant which is understandable.
The restaurant is suitable for families, children, large groups, and couples. The ambience is non-existent so the ambience is based on the square/ street it’s based on and that’s what gives it the good vibe.
If you’re around the area check it out and if you’re not, don’t get out of your way. You will typically not need a booking and the wait time is immediate or a quick wait.
2 stars = Okay. The restaurant has one or two good qualities. It might be a delicious dish, helpful staff, or an inviting atmosphere. Still, you have no interest in...
