A Delightful and Memorable Dining Experience
Our visit to La Trattoria di Donna Sofia was nothing short of amazing. It was a spontaneous night out with my girlfriend, and even without a reservation, we were warmly welcomed.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a big, Garfield-like cat that calmly roamed the busy restaurant; a charming touch that added to the cozy atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and instantly guided us to our table, offering us a choice of sparkling or still water as we settled in.
The restaurant’s ambiance was vibrant yet relaxed, filled with couples, families, and friends enjoying good food and quality time together.
For starters, we tried the homemade meatballs in tomato sauce. One bite in, and I was tempted to ask the waiter for the recipe! My girlfriend and I agreed they were, hands down, the best meatballs we’ve ever had.
For mains, she chose the melanzane, and I had the lamb chops. Both dishes were well complemented by their house red wine.
All in all, it was a lovely experience from start to finish. I’m already looking forward to...

We were asked whether we wanted to be seated inside or outside and we chose outdoors. Be aware they allow smoking outside so choose accordingly. The food was excellent and the service was attentive. We shared a bottle of wine and a bottle of Pelligrino Sparkling water and ordered pasta dishes as our main courses. You could tell the pasta was homemade. We had the eggplant Parmesan as an app and it was also very good. The prices were very reasonable! We did not opt for dessert there since there was a gelato shop across the street from the restaurant that had a long line. We figured with that line the gelato would be pretty good so did that instead. We’d definitely return to La Trattoria Di Donna Sophia if we return to AMS. The most charming part was the cat lounging on the windowsill inside the restaurant which was right...
Read moreI had a wonderful dinner yesterday at Donna Sofia and I can't praise them enough, I was on my own and I ate very early but even in the heart of the Dutch Jordaan the beating heart of Italian food culture shines through. The waitress was charmingly loud and even though it was early and quiet you feel like you are submerged in a colourful Latin restraunt culture.
I have dined here a few times now and it is simply perfect, it's not designer food but it is classic Italian food cooked to perfection.
Go you will love it but book it is small, I went two weeks ago mid week and couldn't get a table, if you like food you will love it, i haven't drank wine for 15 years but would of happily stayed and soaked up the atmosphere with a bottle of Barolo,,,how many quiet restraunts could you say that about.
It's strangely a 100 times nicer than restraunts in Capri and far more genuine.
Go it will be your favourite go to cosy...
