⭐️ 2.5 TLDR: Pretty decor, poor food, great wine, friendly but slow service

Wine: Really excellent choices of natural wine by the glass + tons of bottles. Our waitress provided nice suggestions and also gave us a little tasting of the wines. 6-9€ per glass.

Food: Very underwhelming. At first glance, the menu looks interesting and sophisticated. The reality is that the dishes lacked flavor, came out cold, and the portion sizes were really not in line with the price. Tried the artichokes, fried chicken, oxtail ravioli, croquetas and olives. None of it really did it for me. 6-13€

Service: Our waitress and her colleagues were very friendly and took the time to answer questions. However the service was really slow, they brought out cold food and when I mentioned it they didn’t do anything about it. They also forgot a drink order.

I do have to say that it is not an easy time for restaurants given that they have to train new staff due to corona rules. So that’s understandable yet as a customer I expected a bit more.

Decor: Cozy restaurant with a modern but relaxed vibe. It has seating in two floors, plus the bar. Layout is well thought out and so is lighting.

Overall: 1 star for the wine 1 star for the decor and vibe Half star for service No stars for food No stars for...

Extremely disappointed with the level of service at Bar Pif. I walked in and waited almost 5 minutes without being greeted and then sat down at one of the many open tables. I was greeted and served water after I seated myself. The server was an extremely rude and arrogant young lady. When I asked her about the type of cheese in the dish, she spoke down to me and said it was Swiss and did not go into what type of cheese it was until I told her that I’m familiar with Swiss cheese as I have a home there. I told the server that I do not eat pork and was looking for other meat options, she told me that they only had 1 meat dish that was pork and if I was familiar with fine dining restaurant. She then told me an American restaurant was down the street that served burgers.

Other than the service, the bathroom door has a large metal piece that is loose and cut my friends leg.

I would not recommend eating here as Amsterdam has ample of fine dining establishments with much better customer service. We paid for our bread and left, as I would not support a business with this level of service.

Update- yes, this is the correct restaurant. The cheese was from Switzerland and the metal that cut my friend was on the bottom of the door. Also, there’s no excuse for the...

I booked dinner for two at 9:45. We arrived, and had to wait 30 minutes to order. With our big surprise, the waiter told us that was not possible to order the food menu, but only aperitif small plates at that time. This was shocking, since we booked specifically for dinner and also paid some money in advance for the reservation, without them informing us that they don’t serve dinner. Though incredulous, we decided to close an eye and to order a couple of those small plates. After finishing them, we called the waiter once again to order more. At that point, the absurd finding: “Sorry, the kitchen is closed”. What???? Not only they accepted our booking for dinner without informing us that they weren’t planning to cook that night, but they haven’t even had the decency to inform us that they were going to close the aperitif line!! All this after waiting 30 minutes to take the order!! This business, like many others in Amsterdam, simply don’t care about clients. They keep relying on the fact that there’s endless...

This one was my one of the worst restaurant experience I have ever lived so far. First of all, waiters are explaining the menu but they misrepresented the prices on the menu, as if the prices were for two people, not per person. We chose 7 pieces/ 5 courses according to their suggestion. All the food brought was a big disappointment. One of the pieces is just a chocolate same as the ones in supermarkets. And they count this piece as one dessert. When we saw the check, we understood that portions that are not even for one person were reflected in the account as prices for two. Although we try to explain the absurdity of the situation, they tried to pay the bill without paying much attention to what we said. As a result, it was a big disappointment. We ruined our last holiday night of Amsterdam thanks to this restaurant.

Our first visit to Bar Pif is during the takeout only time. I like the idea of the Borrelbox - cute and nice variety. We ended up trying a few times - spicy fried chicken, smoked almonds, cheese plate, and bread and butter. The chicken was quite good. Nice and crispy coating and the jalapeño mayo was a good spicy compliment. The smoked almonds were delicious. Salty and smoky. Bread was three crusty perhaps sourdough rolls. Quite yummy. I loved the salt on the top of the butter - perfect! The three cheeses were all good. The blue was sharp and crumbly and my favorite. They had many wines to take away and beer options as well. I can’t wait to go back when we can sit down and enjoy.

The place is very nice, the atmosphere is cozy, relaxed and joyful. Staff is kind but there should be more people as you can tell they are very busy and sometimes forgetful. Food is good even tho options are limited, but I appreciated a lot that they have two vegetarian options in the main courses and then two or three in the starters/aperitif part! There is a wide list of wines, I think prices of wine glasses are a bit too pricey but still average in Amsterdam (8-9 euros each). Even tho it was Friday night and online there was no availability until 20:45, at 19:15 we went there and find a table right away! Overall a nice experience! Recommended!
