The very rude and racist owner was unwilling to change the food because it was too spicy for us. Then asked us to either get out or eat the food as it was. After looking at that behavior, we decided to get out but stopped by his daughter to make us pay. Why would someone ask to get out without eating but make us pay? Upon insisting, they packed the food and gave it to us. He kept using racist comments about Indians despite his coming from India. I didn't expect such racist remarks in a country where the economy thrives on tourism.
Response to the owner's response - it's a lie and a sweet cover-up that I was rude. The owner started being rude when asked what was added to the recipe to make it less spicy. They started raising their voice and asking can't you see it's different in color. They then asked us to leave the restaurant or eat it as is. I assumed I was asked to leave the food and go. Until I was asked to pay. I tried to suggest the same politely, but the owner had anger issues and started shouting racial comments, feeling unsafe and threatened in a new country. I just paid and left.
When asked to pay, I wanted the food because it was an absolute loot to take the money away and ask to leave just to inform the problem the customer has with the food. Looking at their food hygiene standards, I was concerned that they would serve the same food to someone else, and therefore, I took the packed food and dumped it in the garbage outside their restaurant.
From where I come from, if the customer doesn't like the food, they get to ask to change the dish and not get shouted at. Another influential lie is we ate the food more than 70% reality was not even 5% eaten; right after a couple of bites, we realized eating that level of spice was a risk to our health and politely suggested that this couldn't be eaten. Owners taking pride in their food is great, but not to the level of taking it too personally and insulting customers.
Additionally, I have visited several countries and eaten in several restaurants and never had this kind of experience in my whole life. I suggest the owner do some courses on hospitality and customer service. People like these are the reason why tourists can get scared of new places and take a terrible story with them to their country and will impact future travelers.
If the owner wants to take it any further, I have the video recording of the complete conversation, which will prove who showed aggressive behavior, and shouted, and I was the real victim. The same will be uploaded on my Instagram page soon tagging the restaurant. I will ensure not another tourist gets to be treated like this. I hope at least Netherland/Indian authorities will take action against such anti national and racist comments made...

Read moreAll Tourists, please beware of this Place. I went to Amsterdam for the first time and instantly fell in love with this beautiful city. To me it seemed like people here are very friendly and welcoming until I met this restaurant owner.
On our first day of the trip we wanted to try Indian cuisine so we drove 45 minutes to go to this restaurant. We ordered an appetizer and a curry along with Naan. The appetizer wasn’t bad but the curry was too spicy, I tried this same curry in many restaurants before but this one was different, it had no flavour and no taste, all that I could taste and smell was red chilly powder. It was so spicy that my eyes and nose started running and turning red and I couldn’t take another bite. I shared my concern with the staff and the restaurant owner, the owner started convincing me saying that this curry is meant to be spicy and I told him that all we could taste is red chilli powder and very kindly requested if they could replace it. Without saying a word he grabbed the dish from our table and left angrily. We had no clue about what was happening. Did he take it to throw it away ? Or to replace it ? Or to fix it? By this time we could sense his rude and arrogant behaviour . After waiting for ten minutes he came back and placed a dish on the table and said that he fixed it and made it less spicy, we asked him what was added to make this less spicy just to make sure that he did not add any allergens. For no reason he started yelling at us and said “if you want to eat it you eat or else just leave” . After receiving such insane hospitality we couldn’t sit there for a minute so we stood up to leave. He made his staff close the main door and said that we could leave only if we paid for what we ordered. I asked him - Why would someone pay to get this kind of treatment and he is the one who asked us to leave . He started passing abusive statements saying towards Indians. These words stuck me hard, I just wanted to get out of there so we paid for what we didn’t eat and then he opened the door...
