This is the best OBA in Amsterdam. All the complaints about children making noise is very over exaggerated in my opinion, even on the weekend there is nothing more than a low chatter of noise from the childrens area. Nothing that cant be solved by a pair of earphones/headphones (also what else do people expect from a public library).
The atmosphere here is very peaceful, like a quiet cafe. I have found some of the other OBA’s to be much noisier/busier compared to this one, which always has space for anyone wanting to read, relax or get some work done. Staff came to me saying i needed to push a button, I said "Sorry I was confused" and was a little taken aback. Staff explained to me once more that I need to push the button and "now I learned dutch for free". I was sad that staff immediately assumed I didn't understand the sign.
