OBA CC Amstel — Attraction in Amsterdam

This is the best OBA in Amsterdam. All the complaints about children making noise is very over exaggerated in my opinion, even on the weekend there is nothing more than a low chatter of noise from the childrens area. Nothing that cant be solved by a pair of earphones/headphones (also what else do people expect from a public library).

The atmosphere here is very peaceful, like a quiet cafe. I have found some of the other OBA’s to be much noisier/busier compared to this one, which always has space for anyone wanting to read, relax or get some work done. Tried to open the door by pushing a button, as it didn't open. I got in by pushing the door, because I thought the button didn't work. Staff came to me saying i needed to push a button, I said "Sorry I was confused" and was a little taken aback. Staff explained to me once more that I need to push the button and "now I learned dutch for free". I was sad that staff immediately assumed I didn't understand the sign. Not necessarily the best place if you’re looking for a peaceful atmosphere to get some work done. It would be better if they had a silent section for adults only, separate from where the kids are. Although there does seem to be a large children’s section, which is nice in itself, there doesn’t seem to be a part where adults can work in silence, which is what you’d expect from a library.
