Pizza Beppe Nassaukade - Amsterdam West — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this Pizza Beppe location. After being seated, our order was initially forgotten, resulting in a 20-minute wait without any staff checking on us. The situation was only addressed when another staff member noticed our prolonged wait. Additionally, my experience was further marred by a chipped glass, which led to a cut on my lip - an incident met with a stark lack of empathy or concern from the staff. Our attempt to order dessert led to another oversight with our order being forgotten again. This frustration was amplified when we noticed the dessert portion served to the table next to us (which they ordered after us) was significantly larger than what we eventually received. To cap off the evening, the staff failed to inquire about our dining experience or acknowledge any of the mistakes that occurred throughout our meal. The negligence, inconsistency in serving sizes, and complete lack of customer service deeply marred our dining experience, warranting a one-star review.

Edit: I received a polite email with a generous offer to visit again which I did on 7/2/25. I’m changing my review from 1 to 3 stars.

Unfortunately, some things remain the same: 1- long waiting - our order appeared to have been forgotten again, takeaway pizzas came and went, other tables got their food and left. We were offered a drink as compensation for the prolonged wait, which was thoughtful 2- the glass was chipped again - please please check your glasses...

Edit: Restaurant offered to refund wine + a free meal to make up for the bad experience, great customer service :)

TL;DR: Mediocre pizza, food was forgotten and we were seemingly overcharged.

Food: The pizza Marinara Piccante was very nice, but I cannot recommend the Verdure. The vegetables were not grilled as advertised, but sautéed with a bit of oil, so they were pretty soggy and lacking in flavour. Burrata was also nice but too expensive for what you get. Tiramisu is pretty good. If it wasn't for the service, I would say it's a pretty average pizza place.

Service: First, there was a miscommunication with the kitchen and we waited over an hour to get our food. I did not mind the wait too much since I was in good company, and the staff was very apologetic. We were offered a glass of wine on the house for the inconvenience, and gladly accepted. Thus far, I think they handled it pretty well, and had that been the end of the story, I would be a happy customer. But after leaving, I checked the receipt and we were charged almost 14 Euros (!) for two glasses of red wine, when it should have been around 8-10. I wanted to check this, but couldn't find a drinks menu on the website. So, either the prices in our menu were not up to date and no one informed us about it, or we were charged for our "free" wine.

Restaurant was severely understaffed. To get the idea, people were waiting in line for a table while tables were free (see pictures).

We had to go search for the waiter in order to have our order taken. Then 40 min later we had to remind/ask the waiter if we can at least get the drinks we ordered. Again, later we had to make a remark towards the waiter that we are getting hungry. We waited over 60 min since ordering for just 4 basic pizzas.

Food was decent but the topings were clearly thrown in a rush. Actually who knows how good it was, by the time it arrived we were starving and would have eaten anything. Not worth the waiting time.

The most frustrating part of the experience was that while we waited over 1h for our food, we could see dozens of pizzas being handed over outside to guys from delivery services. Clearly home delivery was prioritized over sitting customers. I guess the restaurant cares a lot more about delivery ratings. And that explains this 1...
