Overpriced and just okay coffee - £3.5 for a cappuccino using a very basic espresso, milk wasn’t amazing or anything, just a step up from those bean to coffee machines. The biscuit they served was a nice touch but was so hard and chewy (how is that possible??), tasted strongly of artificial almond flavoring I think. Very slow despite not having many people and so few seats.
Edit: to reply the owners - I meant that the espresso just tastes like a generic espresso and wasn’t particularly fragrant, tasting notes didn’t really come through, there isn’t any identifying or unique feature/aroma that would distinguish it from coffee from a machine in the supermarket; milk is warmed and foamed, whereas some places manage to achieve a creamy texture or sweetness after steaming. I’ve had high street chains (eg. Cafe Nero) serve coffee with a more fragrant espresso and better milk texture/taste than I got at the shop. We waited something like 10minutes for this coffee, there were 3 cups of coffee before us and maybe one more customer came in. Maybe speed is not a priority here. I know Amsterdam city centre is expensive, but it really was just an ok cup (not particularly good or bad) and this is on the high end for specialty coffee price in a small cafe in Amsterdam - the quality...
Read moreI am in love with this place. If you are looking for excellent coffee, and I mean if you know your beans and your craft: this is it. Visiting Amsterdam, this has been a haven of peace, and honestly the word that comes to mind is purity. Dedication to the craft and customer service. The food selection is fresh, delicious, light enough yet satisfying enough to jumpstart the day (come earlier if you don’t want the ingredients to run out!)
Ambiance is filled with light and green energy, beautiful plants thriving in a beautiful place.
And the coffee: one of the best espressos I’ve ever had. They serve Peruvian beans that they roast themselves for the espresso: light, smooth, complex, dreamy!
And a variety of other beans suited for drip or lattes, and their barista milk is top notch with oat and pea milk options.
Take home some beans, a tote bag, reusable cups, wooden origami filters, or just the sense of goodness and well-being from visiting one of the best gems in Amsterdam, honestly — this place is...
Read moreHigh quality speciality coffee at first, as they won't offer single espressos. Coming from Switzerland where they accommodate for european and not american habits of small espressos, where they use the second shot for other customers, i was puzzled by the lack of this option (you can use the second shot for a cappuccino, unless also here they do only double shot cappuccino, i don't know).
When asking, for them was so strange that I was essentially roasted (pun intended) and just told to go to sit. I felt humiliated for my curiosity. And also they didn't offered which coffee would choose, and served something totally unbalanced for an espresso. They had options, but they seems to hate their job, zero discussions about beans. At this point i realized that is a speciality coffee for Americans where you can't ask questions. Suggested for those people.
The banana bread was also a bit randomly made, but probably i was just me not enjoying it because of the very pleasant...
