This is authentic eastern cuisine at its best. So light and fresh and full of flavour! We spent almost 3 hours there on Thursday evening and had selection of dried fruits and nuts to start with (some of which we've never seen before), wide range of starters dishes (our favourite was the shredded beetroot in olive oil and walnut paste topped with pomegranate, and btw all the breads in the breadbasket are made fresh on site!), stewed lamb with pilaf rice for main and finished with Azerbaijan baklava (also freshly made on site and nuttier and cakier to the Turkish version) and black tea with wild thyme. We've never had anything like this before. It all tasted fantastic and we will be coming back for more. These people are so proud and passionate about Azerbaijani food, and their culture. They both took time to make sure we were comfortable and gave us some history about certain dishes and customs.

We got a couple of things to share, the khachapuri and three-sisters dolmas. So good! They included bread and yogurt for us and we were comfortably full.

I wasn't even thinking about dessert (I don't usually do sweets) until she mentioned some of the candied fruits that they usually have with tea - fig, quince or white cherries 🍒. White cherries, you got me! Spiced with cloves, but not too much, they were perfect with the tea - which they bring from Azerbaijan - a light black tea with wild thyme from the same region.

Such a cozy little cafe 💘 The dishes were delicious with all the rich Azerbaijani flavors but also had a nice modern twist that made them feel unique. You can tell a lot of care goes into the cooking. I was also happy to find some great vegetarian options. The pickles and cherry pilaf are a must-try!
