Caution!!! I recently had an unfortunate experience at this restaurant that left me with no choice but to share my disappointment. As someone with Celiac disease, I cannot consume gluten, so I took extra precautions when planning a visit to this establishment. I even informed them about my dietary restriction when making the reservation, to which I received no negative response.
To ensure my safety, I called the restaurant in advance, and the conversation left me feeling uneasy. The person on the other end of the line assured me that I could safely enjoy their boils, which was a relief. I also reached out to them on Instagram, where they confirmed that their boils were gluten-free but mentioned the presence of corn inside. (Corn? What does that have to do with any gluten?)
Despite all these efforts to confirm their gluten-free options, my friends and I, a party of 7, were in for a shock when we arrived. To our dismay, we discovered that the boils were not gluten-free as previously claimed. Moreover, they had no alternative options for someone with my dietary needs, apart from plain boiled seafood for the same price.
This frustrating experience made me question the restaurant's management and their ability to handle such simple inquiries accurately. It's disappointing that they prioritize Instagram-worthy pictures over the safety and satisfaction of their customers. We had no choice but to leave.
In summary, if you have dietary restrictions, especially related to gluten, I would advise against dining at this establishment. The miscommunication and lack of understanding of food allergies make it an unsafe choice for individuals with special dietary needs. It's a shame that such places continue to exist in today's...
Read moreNobody really welcomed us when we came in at 17.45 (the place was empty and we made a reservation). We had to order everything with a qr-code wich works for the dinner-choices but it really doesnt make any sense for the drink-order (and for real, 10 euro s for a bottle of water?!?). We ordered "a more" expensive bottle of wine without the chance to taste. She simply poured the wine glasses really full. We asked for a literal menu and the waitress said that they only give it to older people.... wich i find a weird thing to say because the question has nothing to do with age. A well designed menu is like a greetingcard from the restaurant; it only adds to the vibe. Saying that looking at an offline menu is only for old people is shortsighted and rude. (We are 34 and 36, not really old)
The food was good and the concept is fun. But when I am eating I dont want to wear the same cheap uncomfy gloves as when I dye my hair. The more simple, more aware (its 2023; plastic is a no-go) option is a jar of water with a slice of lemon to clean your fingers with, when after all those delicious shells, clean fingers are needed to order more drinks on your phone!! Waiting staff will bring extra pre-fab lemon papers (wich leave a weird taste on your fingers with wich you have to continue eating) but they do not take drinking orders!? So no more drinks because I dont want my phone to smell like fish!!
Toilet was really disgusting. Toiletpaper everywhere and a dirty tampon in a corner.
While walking downstairs I made the mistake to grab the rails; they were disgusting, like crusty disgusting!
Anyway food was good but...
Read moreFood was ok, but not great. Did I sense the margarine instead of butter in the Cajun sauce? I hope I am wrong. The crab was fine, fresh. The "standard" boil ingredients are not freshly cooked, so the green shell mussles are like rubber. How can you spoil the green shell mussels in this manner, I don't get it. Shrimps are also overcooked. That happens when you precook your shellfish.
I understand the plastic bag, the metal bucket under your table and plastic gloves, but there is so much trash produced, unnecessary. You can actually solve this in a more sustainable manner. American style dining is fine, but jeez, just make it enjoyable on all of the levels, we are still in Europe.
No tap water. 1 litre of mineral water is 10,- euros (that's 10x over the original price) QR menus. Still you have to ask all questions personally, and then get your nose back into the phone. This is so cheap. Not enough special cutlery. You are expected to SHARE your crab crackers with your party, like sit there and wait til your friend is done. Way too loud music. Personnel was bored and not loyal to their boss' policy on water (which I totally get, but hey, you don't want your personnel gossiping with customers, because these customers will never return).
All this for a lunch of at minimum of 50,- euros...
