Café Public Works — Restaurant in Breda

Nice restaurant in the center of Breda. I did not expect this place to be this spacious inside. Nice and cozy vibe, and no reservations needed on a Sunday evening. I did not like the very slow service however, since we came in at 17:30 and told them that we would need to leave at 19:30. We had our mains at 19:20 and did not enjoy eating in a hurry. The food was OK, with good portions to match the price. The taste is sometimes lacking tho, specially on the Mixed Grill dish. The meats are cooked well, but not much taste. The fish soup I did enjoy, but it is not that 'loaded' as described in the menu....

Qua bar is alles okay, maar het eten, alweer een teleurstelling. We waren met een groep, 25 mensen, vooraf ons 3 gangen menu opgegeven, €29,50. Zalmtartaar, redelijk op smaak maar veel te weinig en een fantasie loos bord, vlakke smaak. Hoofdgerecht zeewolf met picalillysaus. De vis was met boter in de pan gebakken, niks mis mee maar alweer smaakloos en bijna droog (ruim vooraf al gebakken??), 3-4 stukjes groente, lekker maar weinig, en die piccalilly saus was kerriesaus met veel te veel room. Jaren 80 keuken! Een paar frietjes en een sauskommetje met sla (zonder dressing!) Voor 6 mensen. Dessert, witte chocolade mousse met banaan(?), volgens mij uit een pakje. Nogmaals. €29,50. 100 eters en ik zag iedereen gewoon eten, niets beleven of...
