Visiting Con Fuego was a desperate yet inspired decision made by me and a group of friends craving fine dining with exceptional quality in true Mediterranean style. From the moment we saw the inviting ambiance and the smiles on everyone’s faces, we knew this place was worth a try. We were warmly welcomed at the door and escorted to our table—a coveted reservation we managed to secure two weeks in advance, though not without a fight! As we settled in, we were immediately asked about our starting drinks. While cocktails aren’t my thing, I opted for a stunning bottle of Viña Alberdi Crianza (Reserve) Rioja from Spain, and what a wine it was—smooth, rich, and unforgettable. Once the group arrived, we ordered starters, beginning with a delicious bread served with an herb emulsion and butter. Don’t underestimate this butter—it’s absolutely worth savoring. From that first bite, I knew we were in for an extraordinary culinary journey. Next came an unexpectedly delightful oyster paired with raspberry. It may sound like an unusual combination, but trust me, the sweet-tart raspberry perfectly balanced the fresh, briny oyster—pure harmony on a plate. We moved on to a beautifully prepared carpaccio, which pleasantly surprised me with its subtle sweetness from the delicate addition of caramelized onions. By this point, we were already halfway through our second bottle of that exquisite wine, and the night was far from over. Then came the main courses, and the wagyu stole the show. Divine doesn’t even begin to describe it. I’ve never been a huge meat lover, but this dish might have converted me for life. It was tender, juicy, and served with impeccable sides that elevated every bite. To wrap up this unforgettable experience, we indulged in a baklava cheesecake adorned with nuts—a perfect fusion of creamy richness and nutty crunch that was the ultimate ending to our meal. Con Fuego is a place I’d return to in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. Every moment, every dish, and every detail exceeded...
Read moreWorst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Food was really good, but service was so awful I would not want to support this business in the future. We had reservations for 6pm and were one of the first tables to be seated. Yet we saw other tables that sat down after us get attended to first. Our food came to us very late. It was very difficult to get the waiters attention. I wanted to order dessert and coffee and I finally flagged the waiter down at 7:50. He said it was not possible to order dessert at that time because restaurants must close at 8pm during COVID. I was frustrated because I had been trying to order for a while beforehand but he kept saying he would come back to our table, yet he never did. About 15 mins later we saw him serve dessert to the table next to ours. We feel like we were discriminated against as we are Americans (speaking English). I cant believe how horrendous the service was at this restaurant. The food was good but I still would not come back here. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere. And we spent a lot of money here, as this restaurant is not cheap! There are many other great restaurants in Breda that are more deserving...
Read moreGenerally very good steakhouse with rich options for different cuts and types of meat. It worth a drive to have a good dinner. I had both dinner and lunch there. I advise dinner if you want special steaks. Lunch menu is different and only has standard cuts from black angus. The menu difference is not mentioned while making the reservation.
Carpaccio from the starters is my favorite. I was not impressed with the steak tartar. Beef tataki was also tasty with a fancy smoked plate. For the main course, Japanese wagyu is a good option and very tasty, but not for everyone due to its buttery texture. Entrecôte from King River wagyu is also very good. For me the best option so far from different cuts. Still some more to try. Small note, in all my dinners, the meat was cooked as asked but during lunch it was overcooked (instead of medium rare it was more medium/medium well done).
About the seating, generally comfortable but some high tables are located next to the bar. They are small tables and getting a lot of noise from the bar. It is very uncomfortable to enjoy a good meal with good company of friends. Try to avoid those tables...
