De Botanist - Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Breda

I ate here tonight at the bar and had a remarkable, creative meal. The food is small plate style so I got a few items that were all good but their small risotto was one of the most unique dishes I have ever had. The combination of vegetables and the mixture of some freeze dried to add texture was very inventive as well as diverse in flavor. I am limited due to a gluten allergy and the staff was very attentive to the need and flagged a couple of the items I originally ordered which I very much appreciate. The space is marvelous and the only negative really was that they had no English menu though Google Translate took care of that for the most part. Also, they signature mojito was lacking and tasted more like lightly flavored soda water than a cocktail. Still, the food, service, and atmosphere made up for it and I wouldnt hesitate to...

It’s very pretty inside and of course outside is also nice as Breda is a cute city. Be aware that even though on the site they say that 50% is for walk-in it was fully booked when we went there. Luckily they were open to set us a table for one and a half hour so we could eat there before the reservation starts.

For the drinks: The Perdo’s Mule is really good for a Moscow mule, the normal beer is exactly a normal beer.

For the food: nothing extraordinary. We ordered the Italian fries, that was nice. The Espargus y Puerro is nice, the presentation is great but the prei was a bit hard and got there a bit colder then it would be preferred. The taco vegetarian is okay, highlight for the mushrooms...

Many options to choose from in terms of seating places, you have the tables and high chairs by the canal (outdoor terrace), on the bridge, in front of the restaurant and of course inside. Decor is nice, staff were attentive, service was quick. We wanted to sit on the terrace but they said no because these were tables for 4, though 2 people were seated there at one of the tables (and later I saw they again seated another couple). I didn't like the double standard or at least the inconsistency in their service.

They have an interesting concept of "sharing dishes", but I found that some portions were too small to be shared. The fries and tagliata steak were tops for me and price...
