We came to visit our friends in Eindhoven and decided to go to Le Cozy for a quick dinner. Big mistake. When we arrived shortly after 9PM, we were told that the kitchen is closed. What? According to the website, the restaurant closes at midnight. NOWHERE on the restaurant's website, its Facebook page etc. is there any information that the kitchen is already closed 3 hours before the restaurant closes, and it strikes me as absurd. But maybe it's some kind of Eindhoven local tradition, about which they simply don't bother to inform their potential customers in advance? Except that it isn't. The people sitting next to us got their food served 40 minutes after we had arrived (!). So much for "closing" the kitchen... They could have easily told us "Well, we have just stopped taking new orders but since the kitchen will be making food in half an hour for other customers anyway, they could make more of the same for you." Just a little bit of customer friendliness instead of "No, we will not serve you, period" would go a long way. But this notion appears to be alien to the staff at Le Cozy.
We decided to stay for drinks anyway, because it was raining and we didn't feel like roaming the streets in search for another place. After an hour or so, a helpful (?) waitress came to us and said: "If you are hungry, there is McDonald's along the street". Well, thank you very much. I will surely remember this advice, and when I find myself in Eindhoven again, I will head directly to McDonald's...
Read moreA mixed bag after several visits… the first time was a Sunday lunch with a group of three and the food was excellent, but next visit during the evening was disappointing (still good food although poor service where waiter seemed more interested in his mates at nearby table), and then my final visit was truly shocking, which became a bit like a visit to the Dutch equivalent of Fawlty Towers without the humour! – just one example; the restaurant was quiet, the two waiters were outside on the terrace chatting with a young couple, and kitchen kept ringing bell for what turned out to be my starter… in the end I went to kitchen hatch to tell them their colleagues were both stood outside and couldn’t hear the bell at which chef turned and left kitchen without responding leaving my starter (escargots) behind for me to stare at going cold … I left soon afterwards...
Read moreAmazing food and good wine selection. The only comment I have is that the staff is not much friendly. They speak between each other as if none customer could hear (or at least they believed that I do not speak Dutch :D )
So it would be nice to have a training in hospitality covering these regards… I understand some days we are not in the mood to deliver our best but customers should not feel offended somehow by what they hear from the staff - specially when it can sound a bit offensive due to different language and cultural backgrounds . Such a great food and cozy location we should feel welcome no matter our country...
