Berlage Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in Eindhoven

Nice spot in Kleine Berg, with nice food and drinks. But the experience there was not the best. First, before even arriving, I try to book on the website and it was not possible to reserve a table for lunch but only for drinks...the whole day. So the booking system seems to have some (set-up) problems. I get there and there's plenty of space, so I get a table for me and my friend. We have a lovely lunch, and we're chatting a lot cause we haven't met in a month. At some point, after a dessert and a coffee, we stop ordering. The waiters ask us if we want anything else, and we decline. We didn't intend to occupy the space the whole day, but to be honest there was not even a queue of people waiting to be seated... At some point I drink from the bottle of water I had brought from home. And I leave it on the table instead of putting it back in my bag. A waiter comes at the table and argues that I am doing something bad, that I should not be doing that in a restaurant. I was not sure he was mad for the bottle of water, so I ask a waitress, and she tells me that I should ask for tap water at the restaurant instead of bridging my own water. It makes no sense, because I need to drink frequently and it's my right to decide what to get at a restaurant. Also, when you usually ask for tap water, some restaurants are very stingy... and I don't allow their business decisions to keep me unhydrated 😄 It's just nonsense... but most of all, the aggressive behaviour of both the waiters was totally unacceptable. I bet that if I had ordered more, my bottle of water would not be a problem at all. Not...

I recently visited this place in Eindhoven, and it was a delightful experience. This cafe restaurant boasts a stunning back garden that provides a tranquil and charming atmosphere for dining. The concept of sharing food adds a communal touch to the experience.

The staff were not only kind but also highly informative, making sure we had all the details about the menu and specials. Their attentiveness added to the overall positive impression.

The food was mostly delicious, with a variety of tempting options to choose from. However, it seems they may need to work on their calamari dish, as it fell short of expectations. Nonetheless, this minor hiccup did not overshadow the overall enjoyment of our visit.

My boyfriend and I went at 9:30pm after the dinner and wanted to have a drink

The indoor area was EXTREMELY empty and the waiter told us that it is fully booked and people seating outside may want to come inside later because it’s getting cold But the weather is 19 degrees and clear sky. We felt extremely not welcome at all. Later I told him that we are okay to seat at bar area (especially the bar area has so many seats available) but he kept insisting that the restaurant is full and there are no two seats available. The feeling I got from the waiter who is very rude to potential customers is that this place is not for “not Dutch speaking people” , thus I’m not welcome to be seated For the foreigners...
