What a dump. Looking for a quiet place for to have a beer, I walked into this pub. The unfriendly waitress waved me off when I first approached, but I ordered anyway and took a seat. Waiting for my drink all I could hear was was this unhealthy and unhygienic waitress coughing all over everyone's drinks while the bartender, also coughing, ate oranges, licked his fingers and dropped ice with his hands into other people's drinks. Already turned off I figured I'd down my beer and move on. Then the beer came, flat and tasteless. They cant even get a heiniken right. I tried 3 or 4 times to get the waitress attention after 2 sips of the beer but she ignored me so eventually I approached the bar trying to hold back my disgust and stay polite, and said "excuse me ma'am". To my surprise she put her hand in my face as I interrupted her constant joking and chatting with the bartender and was told to wait 1 minute. Realizing immediately how rude that was she backed up and said ok can I help you. I asked for another drink, to which the bartender poured some into a glass and sipped and said no its fine. I asked again, to change and when I was turned down I said that's fine I'm leaving. The bartender insisted I paid for the drink, but I said no and walked to the door and this scrawny rude kid starts pushing me. Trying to keep my cool I told him I'm not paying so he can call the cops if he wants and I'll even wait. Long story short, the manager comes over, a wannabe tough guy and starts getting aggressive, since I was kind of startled, I agreed to pay and proceed to swear at him while he acts like a tough guy. He then changed his tone to apologetic like a real coward after I called him out of his reprehensible behavior at which point i paid in order to save any further problems and left. The whole situation just grinds me so hard, I should never have paid for the drink I...
Read moreWhat a great place. Looking for a sociable and cozy place to have a beer, I walked into this pub. The friendly waitress waived to say she was a little busy with other guests, which I appreciated because I'm a patient grown adult. Waiting for my drink I noticed the nice interior and the high standards of hygiene. Then the beer came, I didn't order a Heineken because it is flat and tasteless in nature, but a good old Guinness as you should in an Irish pub. I didn't have to call the staff a single time because they where interested and passionated. Approaching the bar to pay the bill I noticed the staff were having a quick, good laugh together and I could'nt be so rude to interrupt them. The manager was really kind and I left a generous tip. Long story short: I thought the manager is a really brave guy who knows how to deal with Karen-esque behaviour which can be tough being a hard worker in the...
Read moreGreat pub! Visited with my brother on first nice warm day of spring, located at oude markt buzzing with nice bars and terraces. Service was quick, polite staff and reasonable prices. I had regular Heineken, my brother a tall weizen. We had a bruine fruitschaal, typical dutch tapas and then some spare ribs and chicken wings. All very well prepared. In short, quality time...
