The shop is a lunch room more than a Bakery as the Bakery contain some items they do not ride much on the fame of their high praised stroopwafel. The stroopwafel already prepacked. Service is good, with a smile local and as most Dutch hospitality places students but with love. 3/10

The stroopwafel At first it does not seems any different but when it comes closer you will sell a little oven prepared smell. The bite is much more airy and crumble easier. Lovely as mostly they are thin and much more sirup. The flavor of the stroopwafel is not too sweet what mostly is and what I do not like about it. This one is nice in balance maybe just a bit oversweet but much better. I understand why this stroopwafel is one of the best ones. But do need to say the sirup is not evenly spread and the sides you for sure notice the lesser amount of sirup. 3.5/10 there is crystal sugar in the sirup not sure everybody will like it I do...

We came for breakfast. The ambience is somewhere between elegant and rustic but not cosy. Unfortunately (in January) we choose a table near a window, so we needed to keep our coats over our shoulders, because it was uncomfortably chilly. Next misfortune was, that our table was vis-à-vis the toilet doors, which do not close properly, so most of the time we had to look inside the bathrooms. We advise the owners to take care of this...

Thanks to an online translater, we managed to navigate the menue. This is ok for adventurous people who know how to get along in the worldwideweb. This Café seems to be a destination for travel parties with elderlies...

The food was ok-ish and in our opinion only worth two stars. We give three because we had savoury options and therefore cannot talk about the cakes and esp. the waffels, which seem to be the specialty of this place.

The waitress was really...

They have a good variety of items, a lot of bakery items. However, we arrived very early and not everything on the menu was available. Service was very standoff-ish and it took us forever to get the check even though we were the only ones there. The waitress was chatting the whole time and could not see us trying to get the check to be on our way. Then another waitress spotted us and came to the aid. The place also felt a bit dirty, dusty on the wood panels on the wall, had a squashed bug on the menu (which I understand might not be their fault but still). Hot drinks and cookies were very average. I was hoping for a fresh Stroopwafel but got a re-heated old one sadly. Overall a place that looks good but a very...

Stroopwaffel workshop was the highlight of our day! Sixth-generation baker (and a semi-celebrity! Having been on Great British Baking show, and featured in a cookbook) led us thru the basic steps in a fun and gentle manner, with wonderful bits of humour and history—over 120 years as a family business! The facility is beautiful and the workshop space is trendy. They even sell some very old locally used baking equipment at a cheap price! The shop and cafe are filled with decadent treats. I’d love to come back every trip to Gouda. And did you know that stroopwaffels originate from Gouda?! And they do it right!

Stopped in for warmecocomelk earlier in the day. Good chocolate milk and not from power. They come to the table and bring a selection of mini chocolate wafers. Everything from white to dark to extra dark. So we came back for a midday snack. Got chai tea latte, yum, and a tea. Again, selection of tea bags brought to table. Got 2 broodjekrokt. Salad served with the croquets was good on its own and croquets were great. In both cases the prices were very good and staff were very friendly. Off the main square, which is where I usually find the better shops. Worth a visit.

As a family with 2 small children we visit this bakery quite often, for lunch or a drink with syrup waffle. We are always treated very friendly (even if the kids are a bit 'more active' than normall), the kids love it and the food is very taste. The setting is quite cosy and warm, really the feeling you wish to get at a bakery, and the pictures on the wall and decoration shows the long history. Also important to mention, lunch and high tea are priced very reasonable for a place in the city centre. We hope to enjoy this place for many more years 😊
