La Ca Vietnamese Cuisine&Bar — Restaurant in Groningen

We were a group of six people. I was excited more than the host to make my parents try Pho for the first time. The host was so rude, I never saw anything like that in my life. We paid so much money and they treated us like we don’t deserve anything as a customer. First of all, the first dishes and side dishes are tiny, it should cost half as much. Some veggies and a little bit of chicken. For the pho, it was basic, we got it cold and when my father asked to warm the soup, the host yelled at him (!) saying he waited too long. Afterward, I asked for some hoisin sauces, or soy, like in all the traditional places, to add some flavor, the host was also very rude saying they don’t give that. Sounded like she was just cheap. When we asked for tap water they said they don’t serve it. I would summarise it by saying that this restaurant costs much, but for its customers, they are cheap and rude. Definitely nothing authentic about that place. You should visit Pho 91 in Amsterdam to learn what is a real Vietnamese place next time. But for Groningen people, try the Saigon pho, I bet it will be better. One nice thing to say is that the other waitress was extremely nice to us, giving our dogs water in a bowl (dogs get free tap water but people don't apparently) - so my tip for the restaurant, be nicer to your customers, respect elders people and don’t yell at them, and stop being cheap. I got this place recommend and I was told to order the spring rolls and pho, and it's save to say. It did not disappoint. The spring rolls were really nice! The sauce that came with them was a bit spicy but still really good! And the pho was also really good. I'm normally not a soup, or soup like dish, fan but I really enjoyed the pho! It was very flavourful! And it's a decent portion for the price too. The restaurant itself looks quite lovely! I really like how it's decorated! The entrance to the toilets was a bit hidden for the location, but that's something positive. As the entrance is halfway into the restaurant you don't want to have it very visible so it's really clever how they hid it with the rope curtain. The staff was very friendly aswell, with some great service too! All in all, I had a really great time dining here! And I have only one remark and that is that there were no peppermints afterwards. After seeing a lot of good reviews of this place, I decided to go for a delivery for tonight's dinner. I ordered the Com ga-rice chicken. Sadly, the whole dish was majorly lacking any form of sauce, so I essentially had very basic seasoned chicken and vegetables. I would not recommend this restaurant for delivery, and definitely not the dish I ordered. To top it off, I ordered a big version of the dish, but it seemed like a normal size dish when compared to a lot of other places, even on the small side. If this really was big, you could double or triple the size with how bland the taste was to maybe make up for it. Other than that, the delivery time was fast and the guy delivering my food was kind.
