Chocolate Company Café — Restaurant in Haarlem

visited the place on Sunday the 2nd of July 2023 and had a couple of issues. I ordered a couple of drinks and brownie, the waiters got my order wrong and brought me a different drink, i explained that was not my drink, she went back and i could hear checking with her supervisor my order and she only asked if my drink was more or less expansive than what was brought too me. when she heard it was less expansive they just made me my drink and brought it to me. but the problem is they charged me for the more expansive drink and i was annoyed that did not even offer to refund me the difference. So basically i was charged more for the drink. the other thing was the staff NEVER cleaned the tables outside, customers would leave the tables and since the staff never cleaned the tables birds would be gathering over the leftover and that happened for the entire hour we were there. overall, bad experience and very...

Like some other reviews customer service is subpar. I stood at the counter for about 2-3 minutes before asking them if I could order and then another few minutes before they were ready to take my order. The food didn’t take too long to arrive though but when my red velvet cake came it was the most disgusting cake I’ve ever tasted! I think it had been sitting there for more than 3 weeks. It was sooo dry that it started to turn white as you can see in the pictures. I contemplated about taking it back but my friend had a lemon tart which didn’t taste that great either, so I thought even if I exchanged it for something else all their other cakes would taste just as bad. Me and my partner had a lovely coffee. The plain bread I had, however, was from the day before. The manager claimed the bread was freshly baked, though the outer side of the bread was crude and not crispy what so ever. I felt disappointed to see such little conciliation and friendliness from the manager as I was (as I clearly managed to utter) unquestionably dissatisfied with the product. I have had my fair share of freshly baked bread, and this was definitely not so. I am very disappointed to see such lousy customer care and will make sure to not return to the chocolate company cafe in the future.
