Oscar Bakery — Restaurant in Haarlem

I used to be a regular customer prior to moving away 4 years ago and Oscar was amazing. Now I have revisited and I am so disappointed. Bread is expensive for what it is, on attached picture you can see effects of bad sourdough mix, bubbling more than it should. It is so basic you would expect bakery to know how to make good bread. There was also a promo running with 5 kokosbollen for 5€, which I didn't see. Salesperson did not even mention this when I ordered 4, so I ended up paying 8€ for 4pcs instead of 5 for 5. Whenever I visit my best friend in Haarlem, stopping by Oscars is a non-negotiable. I always grab us flat whites there. They’re consistently smooth, well-balanced, and just really well made. Their pastries are also soooo good! Fresh, flaky, and clearly not just an afterthought like at some other places. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the staff are genuinely friendly (not in that fake smile way).

One time I accidentally dropped my cappuccino outside (classic me), and when I went back in to buy another one, they gave me a replacement on the house, just such a kind gesture that stuck with me. Places like this make a city feel like home....

Oscar Bakery in Haarlem is an absolute gem! Their products are simply top-notch. Whenever you're in Haarlem, this place is a must-visit. My personal favorites are their delicious cookies (koeken in Dutch) and the heavenly olive bread. One thing to keep in mind is that these goodies can be in high demand and might sell out quickly, so it's a good idea to go earlier in the day.
