I rarely write bad reviews but today’s dinner was nothing short of a disaster. Firstly, we waited an hour for our food order to be taken. Three of us ordered the Christmas special tagliatella flambeed in the parmiggiano wheel with black truffle as primi piatti but couldn’t taste the truffle at all (tiny amount of truffle which also was not fresh). When we pointed this out, the waiter’s response was that prthaps the parmiggiano overpowered the trutfle taste. This obviously is not a valid argument as a chef should understand flavours and design a dish focused on the centre piece (the truffle), not add it as an afterthought to earn more money. This dish was definitely not worth the nearly 24 euro it cost. There was one redeeming dish which was my wife’s mussels - these were quite tasty. Unfortunately that was the sole highlight. The first main course arrived lukewarm on a cold plate and had to be sent back. The next four main courses all had major issues: 2 tagliata di manzo dishes (fillet of beef with rucola and parmiggiano) were wrong (they brought fillet of beef with mushroom sayce and pasta instead). The other two main courses were filleto napoli (beef tenderloins with porcini mushroom and truffle sauce) were ordered medium-well but arrived beyond well done. Needless to say, these four main courses were taken away again by the waiters. Five minutes later, replacement dishes arrived. Unfortunately, these had hardly been grilled and arrived rare. By this time (nearly 3h since arriving at the restaurant) we were completely fed up and asked for the bill. Other than getting one complimentary bottle of wine, no apologies were offered by the waiters that “served” us all night. Only one waiter at the very end offered an apology but the damage was done. I have read other reviews on various platforms but I would strongly urge you not to waste your money here...our bill came to nearly 400e for a few mediocre starters, disastrous main courses and horrible live music crowding out any chance at a normal...
Read moreI had a favorite italian restaurant in Haarlem but they lost their chef so now I'm on the hunt for a new favorite Italian restaurant Napoli is not it. They wants to be upscale but never will be. Napoli has a well worn and a bit out of date look to it. There are too many items on the menus and far too many menus. Very confusing and hard to read. The mix antipasti was really wonderful for 4 people. The wine was fine. The wine list goes from affordable straight up. Everyone I was with said there food was fine. No one was over impressed but also not unhappy. I ordered Sacchetti di Pera al Gorgonzola. The pasta with pear, parmesan and gorgonzola. I'm pretty sure this had been previously frozen, the gorgonzola sauce over powered everything. I never could taste pear in it. Maybe it's just as the cook wanted to be but not what I was hopping for. Expect to spend around €70 and up per person if you want a full dinning dining experience. I will continue my hunt for a new favorite Italian...
Read moreThe family of my husband is crazy about this Restaurant, they come here since their childhood but we have never been there til today. I personal loved the fact that when we came it, nice Dutch time with kids 17hrs, the heater was on, and the atmosphere was beautiful and calm, we were the first ones :). Could take our time, read the nice Italian menu and make our choice during a delicious foccacia. After we all order different kind of pastas, burratas, salads, carpaccios, etc the waiter could answer our questions and help the kids with their choices we could enjoy our meals with a side bread with garlic and tomato. Afterwards the most treat themselves with a tiramisu, dama bianca, torta limoncello and others. We had a great time, excellent service and delicious food. We will definitely will come back here often sinds now we know how lovely...
