Himalaya Restaurant — Restaurant in Hoorn

We love Indian food especially authentic and own homemade spices. We had never tried an Indian Nepal food before. So we decided to give it a go. Have to say we were disappointed many times with Indian food in NL. Too oily and salty. Yet we still trust there is true authentic Indian food out there. I, personally, ate homemade Indian food from my friend's mother and friends who are Indian back where I came from. They cooked very delicious Indian food. So I know what real Indian food is like. Happy they're flexible with our order and can be added to the 3 course dinner we opted for, chilli paneer. One plus compliment is the guy in colbert noticed our table is unstable and came to fix it. We didn't even notice it. I like the small cosy restaurant. I don't usually like dessert coz I often find it too sweet in many places. I fell in love with the rice pudding with ice cream. Popadums, I would be happy to pay 2euro's extra for another 2 pieces! It was solid and the sauces were just excellent. I had the Lamb Madras as main, it was great and am glad the Garam was subtle and not overpowering. A tad more acidity with lemon is the only minor thing I can say, but it was lovely. Also, I tend to use only Nan but the Rice was cooked to perfection and I am glad I got it since the Garlic Nan was ok, I think it didn't rise enough. It was just not fluffy and a bit tough. Would I come back here, YES! Flavours spot on...and it is all about...

With a husband from the UK and not many "curry houses" in the area where we live we thought we'd give this restaurant a try.

The menu offered of a considerable number of options from both Indian and Nepalese cuisine.

Every person in our 4-people group ordered a different dish (just so we could try a bit of everything). All the food that was brought to the table was absolutely delicious and had its own very specific flavour.

Service was great, we greatly enjoyed the food and are sure to be back when we're in the area next.
