Japans sushi & Grill restaurant Oika — Restaurant in Hoorn

We were seated pretty quickly, but got no Explanation. You get a paper on which you fill in what you want to order. It takes a while before they pick that up. Our server only spoke a bit of English, no Dutch at all, which was not a problem for us but I saw other people struggle. I tried ordering the Japanese plum wine from the menu. She did not know what that was, even though I pointed at the menu. She then told me that were out. I asked another server a few moments later and she said that they did have it. Acoustics are not great, it gets loud pretty quick to the point that having a normal conversation is not possible. The food was OK, however for the price you pay you would expect them to be able to cook beef. It was like chewing gum. You can order 5 things per round per person, however we have never received all the items. We ordered 10 things every round, but we never received all the things. I had an absolutely wonderful late lunch here. The All You Can Eat sushi was delicious. Service was excellent from the very kind waitress who spoke great English. Menu was also in English. It wasn't too crowded on a Tuesday at about 2 p.m. I'd definitely recommend this, especially for larger groups. Place is neat, clean, well decorated and with nice bathrooms.

Had a fantastic meal here, the sushi and other dishes were fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. There was a good variety on the menu, and everything we tried was top quality. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, perfect for a casual night out.

A special mention to our waitress, Dan, who was absolutely lovely, friendly, attentive, and very quick with everything. She made us feel really welcome and looked after without being overbearing.
