I don't like leaving a bad review, but i really can't give more than two stars at this point. On a positive note, the food was simple but well made. The pricing was fair, too. However we had to wait half an hour for our drinks and one and a half hours (!!) for our food. When the final plate with bites was served, it was two hours later, ten minutes to closing time. Perhaps they forgot our orders, but in the meantime, no one checked on us. When the drinks finally came, it was not exactly what we ordered. When the food finally came, it was the wrong order. When we paid, it was not the right bill. The people are sweet, but the service really needs to step up its game. We were not the only ones waiting for such a long time, and it wasn't even crowded. I honestly wanted to like this place, but if I had known, I would have spent the evening...
Read moreWe had the salmon bento, kinetsu tofu udon, okonomiyaki stick, and seweed salad. Everything was perfect! The salmon was soft and deeply flavored, and the tofu was sweet and soft, too. The bento was very filling as it had fried gyoza (it was super good), cabbage, salmon, and a portion of rice with furikake on top. The okonomiyaki was 💯 and it was cheap as well!! Everything was prepared with care, so we really appreciate the passion that the chef put into the food. But the Japanese Mojito wasn't impressive, that's the only minus point. You can order and pay with the QR code on the table. They even gave us free miso soups because we are students. I highly recommend this restaurant. The best Japanese food in the Netherlands. (It's at a walking distance from the Hotus Botanicus, so I recommend this place if you plan to...
Read moreAuthentic, home-made Japanese restaurant in the suburbs of Leiden. Friendly service with the option to order via a QR code.
The food was excellent, with great variety, served within a reasonable time from the order. Each of the courses arrived soon after finishing the last, keeping us happy and constantly eating. We didn’t need to chase them, nor felt rushed by the pace.
The scallop sushi was outstanding and takoyaki left a similar impression. The steamed dumpling was a favourite for us, with the gyoza trailing a little behind; tasty, but not as punchy in flavour.
Desserts are small and tasty. Best to order a couple and share!
We were a little cold in the restaurant though, something to bear in mind during winter.
Would recommend if you enjoy...
