Brandsøn — Restaurant in Maastricht

I would have given Brandsøn a five-star review on the basis of multiple visits over the past few months, however, our visit last week merited a two- or three-star review at best, ending up almost a disaster in terms of overall experience. All three of us had the fish, which was overcooked, but, worse, served in a dish for everyone to take a piece without any serving spoons or, indeed, without anyone asking whether we needed help. After waiting for a few minutes, I got up and brought some spoons to serve this, and the mousseline potatoes, the asparagus, and the beans myself. Not quite sure how they expected us to split these things unless they expected us to all put our spoons and forks in the tiny pots accompanying the main. Wines proposed for dishes were irrelevant (even red was proposed for the fish), so we did the best we could ourselves in terms of selection; for starters bisque was not up to scratch, whereas blinis were overcooked and cold -no comparison to the way the same thing was served less than ten days ago- but the worse elements for us was the cocktails. We pick Brandsøn over other places, exactly because we can have a nice cocktail and have relaxed evenings. In this instance, I specifically asked for what I had the week before, explaining it was light and creamy and not in the menu, to be served with a strong, coffee cocktail which drilled my stomach and was very much on the menu. Upon discussion and asking for any other cocktail of something creamy, we were told that only options were the ones in the menu -hardly ten cocktails- and when we explained that we always had them make some for us we were told that 'this has recently changed'. Recently must have been very recently. As in the last 4-5 days since our last visit! Intentions were perhaps good, not quite sure what happened,. but a rather disappointing experience...

Our team recently had the pleasure of dining at Brandson, and we couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the evening.

The ambiance of the restaurant is both elegant and cozy, making it the perfect setting for a team dinner. The decor is tasteful, and the lighting creates a relaxed and inviting environment.

The service throughout the evening was impeccable. Our server was always available when needed, yet never intrusive. The timing of the courses was well-paced, allowing us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed.

The variety and quality of the dishes were outstanding. Each course was a delightful culinary experience, showcasing the chef's creativity and attention to detail.

Overall, Brandson exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere made for a memorable evening. We highly recommend Brandson for any group looking to enjoy a fantastic dining experience.

I arrived at about. 7:30 on a Thursday and about half the terrace was full. I reviewed the menu and asked for a table for one. I was put inside at the high bar tables. The only person seated at the bar. And with a view of 4 or 5 empty tables along the side. I was almost immediately handed a menu for drinks and lunch served until 4pm. I ordered a drink and she was very nice in recommending a change to make it better. That's as good as it gets. I was never spoken to or acknowledged again. I was not given a dinner menu with food I could actually order. I wasn't asked if I would like anything else. After 30 minutes I got up to ask for the bill because despite constantly passing me, to get to the bar or kitchen I was not even looked at. I asked for the bill and the waitress told me to wait a minute and never came back. The tables outside were still empty. Eventually I paid and went elsewhere. Maybe the food is good. Maybe it's not.
