Petit Café Moriaan — Restaurant in Maastricht

Beautiful little place with a lot of nice and tasty dinner options. This café is the smallest restaurant of the Netherlands and a very cozy place to sit. We sat in the extended inside of the cafe made of glass, which gave an impression of sitting outside with a very warm temperature in the cold weather.

We had the oysters (very tasty and seemed nicely fresh), spaghetti aglio olio e scampi (which was well prepared containing a nice balance of tastes, although the pasta itself had some crunchy bits, and came with a very nice price), and the beefburger on a gluten free bun. The gluten free bun was a bit tough to cut but that was remedied with the taste of a great burger.

We had 2 salads Caesar that normally come with anchovies ( which is not original ingredient) and we requested to keep them off our plates. We received our plates with this piece of dried aged pork thin piece, and by aged I mean old. The chicken in the salad had a pale grey/beige greenish colour that was not fresh, few days old and re warmed for our dish. The old taste was tried to be masked by herbs but they were not doing the trick. Toilet was a mess, kitchen was run by students. Horrible place Would not recommend for anyone, definetly not...

I took a book there to have a drink and catch my dinner. The French onion soup was really nice. I thought of trying the meat stew. I didn't know what to expect but it wasn't for me. The staff was very friendly and checked on me a few times as I had some difficulty finishing the stew. I thought it was very kind of them to give me a 20% discount as it wasn't what I expected.
