I decided to try this restaurant because of all the good reviews they had, but it was a disappointment and I won't come back. Firstly the table we got seated down at was right next to two other tables and the waiter had to move the closest table away just so I could get to my seat in the corner. When it was time for us to leave, I couldn't get out from the seat without asking the customers sitting at the table next to us if they could move the table a little bit. Tables shouldn't be placed only 10 cm away from each other so that customers can't get in or out of their seats without moving the tables. It's a terrible setup! Secondly, when the waiter brought our food to the table I asked if I could have a knife and a fork, because there were only chopsticks available on the table. His response was that they don't have knives but he would check if there were any forks. He came back shortly after with a fork and said "if you ever go to Japan bring your own fork". Then we asked if he felt offended by having people ask for cutlery instead of using the chopsticks and he said yes and explained that in their culture it's considered rude to not eat with chopsticks and that more than 50% of all customers they have will ask for a fork and he seemed very annoyed by this. I'd think a better approach to the situation would be to offer to teach customers how to use chopsticks, if you really want them to use it. A white person like me has always used cutlery for eating because that's in our culture in Europe so obviously I don't know how to eat with chopsticks, but I'd want to learn how to do it if I had the opportunity. For other potential customers reading this review my advice to you is - bring your own fork! Thirdly, I found the ramen was lacking flavors. I expected the broth to be salty and it was pretty tasteless in my opinion. However, I'd like to give 5 stars only for the cocktails, they...
Read moreKings of Ramen does a few things right—but it’s not quite ready for legendary status just yet.
Let’s start with the chicken curry: the chicken itself? Really good—tender, flavorful, cooked just right. But the curry sauce? A bit of a letdown. Lacking depth, a little shy in the spice department, and not nearly bold enough to match the potential of the protein it’s paired with. It’s like someone put a five-star actor in a straight-to-DVD script.
As for the ramen, it holds its own, but there’s a small twist—they use squid ink to give it that striking black color. The problem? It’s not mentioned anywhere. So if you’re expecting black garlic and get a mouthful of the sea instead, it can be a confusing (and slightly briny) surprise.
Also worth noting: portions lean on the smaller side. Not tragic, but maybe order a side or two unless you’re on a post-snack pre-dinner outing.
Final take: Kings of Ramen has potential, especially with their chicken game, but the curry needs more punch, and the squid ink twist should come with a heads-up. A good spot, just not quite ruling the noodle...
Read moreI had high expectations. And I was surprised. the black garlic tastes weird, fishy smell and the blackness is not like black garlic oil but its more like squid ink (my opinion). I complained and the kitchen indeed acknowledged it, that they were actively fixing the recipe of the black garlic, and said it will be changed next week.
the tonkotsu broth also can be more thick. and too bad they dont use pork broth as well..
So I will give a second chance, next month ill try again.
