Atelier Bar & Hotel — Restaurant in Nijmegen

Normally i am going to atelier during the day for lunch/brunch or coffee and always enjoy it. So we decided to try it out for Friday evening dinner. The place was full so we were asked to wait at the bar counter where also another group was waiting. After 45 min or so the other group got a table. We didn't. For the whole evening. Although We asked couple of times. All the tables that got free were all of a sudden for upcoming reservations. At some point we got so hungry that we decided to accept our destiny and ordered to eat at the bar. The food and the drinks are def good (but quite expensive). As the counter is also where used glasses are stored, my friend was in the end surrounded by used bottles and glasses while eating. Which is ok for a bar evening but not if i pay a lot of money for my dinner. I would come back for one drink. Def not for...

Thanks to Tiktok, we discovered this lovely, homey place! The philly cheese steak sandwich was oozing with cheese and the steak was cooked medium rare. My partner loved it!

As for my chicken and waffles, I loved that the chicken was actually chicken tenders and it was easy to eat. Weird thing is that they have watermelon on the side and on the same plate as the waffle. The watermelon soaked the bottom of the waffle. Also, the waffle was kinda bland and you'd really need to drizzle it with the syrup.

The staff were very polite and friendly. However, the service time was slow considering that it was not a full house during lunch time.

Price is okay but quality could be much better for the price they charge. Their matcha is quite low grade (they use one for cooking). You can tell because of its grainy texture, muddy green colour, and its inability to dissolve easily. I was meeting chunks of undissolved matcha powder so I couldn’t continue after a couple sips. I ordered an iced latte which was also okay. They made me pay for the matcha still, which is fine but not worth it at all. The tuna melt was okay, and I don’t know what they did with the sweet potato fries there. It’s almost burnt and I didn’t want to keep eating.
