Finally — Great Chinese Food in Aruba!
I've been in Aruba for several months working on my condo and have been searching for good Chinese food. After trying four other restaurants and being let down each time (poor cleanliness, bland food, weak service), I found a 2023 review by Mitchell Williams recommending Kowloon in Oranjestad and decided to give it a shot.
When I walked in, only one other table was occupied — not the best first impression. But the menu had a great selection, so I ordered the egg and chicken soup to start. It looked more like a clear broth than traditional egg drop soup, but it was absolutely delicious — loaded with mushrooms and full of flavor.
For my main course, I had item 2040 — Lat Tzu Sub Yuk, sliced chicken sautéed with green peppers in hot pepper sauce. It looked a little plain, and at first bite I thought it lacked spice, but after a minute the heat kicked in — and it was perfect. Balanced, flavorful, and satisfying.
On top of that, the service was excellent — friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
After several disappointments, I’ve finally found my go-to Chinese restaurant in Aruba. Thank...
Read moreNot my first time here. However this time for take out. Mind you, I’m changing my last review to BAD because of this experience. This restaurant is known for its good food but also also known for being expensive. Talk about expensive, I just paid for take out fries with my food that costed me almost 80 fls, which is about $45. With this food I ordered an order of fries that costed me 6.75 fls ($3.85). In my car I couldn’t find the fries, I went back telling them. However the Asian cook came telling from the kitchen that he packed the food and that the fries were packed. I order two of their combination meals which came with eggroll, they packed the two eggrolls in one tiny box and their order of fries was the same box like the one of two eggrolls. I couldn’t believe my eyes! Its not ONLY about the abuse of amount of food but also the arrogance of the cook. One thing is for sure (my partner will keep asking me to buy food there) i will rather fry my partners fries than order here. Such an abuse! Don’t let me start on their drink prices, their home made fruit punch is more expensive than local beers out there! Same...
Read moreHere’s the reasons for the three stars Service - 5 stars (our server was very friendly)
Food - 3 stars (tasteful but if you are looking for Chinese food then this is NOT the place - we ordered fried wonton and hot and sour soup - the fried wonton IS the wonton shell fried and the hot and sour soup is like sour chopped suey. The teriyaki sauce for chicken teriyaki was extremely heavy on the cinnamon side - I don’t remember the last time teriyaki sauce taste like that. We also ordered some steak hot plate that was okay but again - not Chinese.
Wait time to get food after we ordered - 3 Stars (the restaurant wasn’t super busy but it took much longer than a typical wait...
