This review is for food and service ONLY because the other piece of the review is VERY CONCERNING and you need to be aware. The food and service was very very good. Just so you’ll know, it’s a Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 restaurant. All the staff were simply amazing. I went at night. I visited the restaurant because I was recommended this place for Latin food. It didn’t disappoint. If you’re reading this review, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take my advice. DO NOT GO THERE AT NIGHT. I was very uncomfortable because the environment changes at night and you can see the undesirables all over the place sizing you up. I didn’t feel safe AT ALL. I grew up in an urban setting, so, I am very streetsmart and I tell you, NOT the place to be at night. If you go and you should because the food is very good, just go while it’s sunlight out. AFTER my experience, I spoke to a few locals and they said to definitely go while it’s daylight. Again, the food and service gets a 5 stars but the night environment gets NO STARS. BE VIGILANT if you want to take the chance and go at night.

In the heart of down town Oranjestad, Silla Bar is a favorite go to for a lunch time meal. A mix of Haitian and Dominican cooking it offers the best of both worlds. I personally love their arroz moro (rice and peas) with pechuga (grilled chicken breast). The portions are very generous and the price is fair. There's usually a line at lunch time so it can take a hot minute before you get your food but its wort the wait. The staff are friendly and attentive. Located at the back is a bar where you can lounge and have drinks. You can hear the music from outside on the street.

The food was top notch here!!! Very authentic and friendly people too. We had to use muddled Spanish and English to order but made do, and the value was really good, $15 US for enough food for 2, even though we ordered ONE medium size meal. Highly highly recommend!!!

There are many well known restaurants on this island, especially on the main strip where the hotels/resorts are. But if you ask the locals where to go, you’ll come across Silla. This Dominican restaurant is worth the visit. I found this restaurant to be hands down better than any resort/hotel, and all the other popular touristy restaurant on the island. Serving sizes are good and the price for food is very reasonable. I throughly recommend and enjoyed this place.

Salmon- very tasty sauce and salmon (chunks) was juicy. Tasted great with the white rice.

Stewed chicken- amazing and the chicken was cook just right, fell right off the bone. The gravy was seasoned wonderfully. This dish was so good, I literally couldn’t lick my plate.

Oxtails- Again another dish that was prepared correctly. The sauce was good and well seasoned, and the meat fell right...

Usually, I adore the food here, but this time, everything we ordered was unexpectedly sold out after we placed our order. Plus, they served a bottle of Coke without any glasses! Are we supposed to drink straight from the bottle? After paying, we inquired with another waiter about the usual sides—soup and salad. Instead, we got fries and protein. When we asked for rice, we were initially told only 'moro' was available, and later, they said there was no rice left. The portion of meat I ordered wasn't enough for two servings, so I had to switch and wait again. I received a plate of fries first, followed by the meat. We even had to request ketchup since it wasn't offered. While the food's quality remains great, the service today left much...
