The Old Dutch Cafe — Restaurant in Oranjestad (city)

We ate at The Old Dutch Aruba twice during our vacation. We ate outside as the inside is a typical pub where one is allowed to smoke. We are from a country where smoking is banned indoors in public places so we are used to that now.

Our servers were absolutely lovely. Especially the fellow who served us the first time we went -- so sorry I have forgotten your name. My bad!! Everything arrived promptly with a smile.

The first visit, my hubby had a shawarma burger and fries and I had beef tips. He said the burger was absolutely excellent. My beef tips were in a bit too much grease or butter for me but that is a personal preference and boy that beef was tender. The second visit, he had schnitzel with fries and I had spinach lasagna in a white cream sauce. Good! Both visits, we took leftovers back to our condo.

The prices are good for Aruba. You must check it out if you want a casual dinner surrounded by friendly faces! Oh...and if you shoot stick, it is free...

My husband and I stopped here on a whim after driving by this place many, many times. We were hungry and being a vegetarian, I wasn’t sure there would be anything to eat. The menu was fantastic but nothing to suit my pallet. I was happy to sit and let my hubby enjoy the food but I decided to ask if they could whip something up. Well, they were happy to do so and I had the most amazing sautéed veggies I have had in a very long time. This was surely a one-off for them but kudos to a job well done and I so appreciated the effort. My belly was quite appreciative as well! We had an incredible dinner at Old Dutch Restaurant in Aruba! The atmosphere was vibrant, enhanced by the delightful live music that perfectly complemented our evening.
