Culinair adventure. The best way to describe my experience with Amarone. The restaurant is the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. You are welcomed by a very well trained staff. Before ordering you get welcomed by a very tasty nutty treat.
We chose for the 7 courses menu. This way we could taste every seasonal special Amarone had to offer. I cannot describe how good the food was. All of the food had great thought behind is. It is beautiful to see and taste the different combos.
For example: One dish was venison 2ways. The sheer perfection in this dish was outstanding. One way was your perfect medium rare "steak" while the other one was slowcooked. This way you get to taste the "normal" variant everyone is using and the version Amarone uses. The chef and his team made a smart choice here.
Another example would be their Fish dish. The combination was well thought of. The ingredients would make me think of the Netherlands, which was very nice detail.
Do make a reservation for Amarone. Let your tastebuds dance. It is well worth the price and well worth your taste. In my opinion, the best taste I've had in Rotterdam.
If there was one thing I liked the least, it would be the use of goat cheese in a certain dish. While I was open to they idea, it gave me an unusual aftertaste which I didn't like that much. But that's a personal preference, which should not affect the...
Read moreRestaurant Amarone, a one-star Michelin restaurant, provided an exceptional experience for my 46th birthday celebration. As always, Jasper, the staff member, made us feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the evening. Surprisingly, even though I hadn't mentioned it was my birthday, a heartwarming birthday note awaited us on our table, signed by owner/chef Jan, owner Yoshiko, and the rest of the team.
The updated menu displayed a stronger Japanese influence, incorporating ingredients like daikon and shiitake. The seven-course meal, accompanied by two additional amuse-bouches, focused mainly on seafood, which I genuinely adore. Each dish demonstrated absolute dedication and precision, creating layers of flavors that were truly fantastic.
To top it off, a special birthday tart was prepared specifically for me, adding a personal touch to the evening. Being a teetotaler, I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of delicious alcohol-free drinks, which were some of the best I ever had.
Overall, my experience at Restaurant Amarone for my birthday celebration was wonderful. The attentive staff, updated dishes, and meticulous preparation contributed to an...
Read moreReally enjoyable night out! I give them 5 stars because
What we enjoyed more was how friendly and approachable the staff was and particularly one tall guy (who was probably the sommelier). Usually Michelin star restaurant have stuck up personnel who take themselves too seriously but not in this place.
I do not eat meat or poultry and when our waiter missed to advise us that “sweetbread” was actually meat and the dish arrived, this guy immediately took it on him to fix it and in 8-10 mins he had it replaced with one of the most tasty vegetarian dishes I even had in my life with cabbage. The chef didn’t just remove the meat and served a subpar dish (as they usually do when you ask for a last minute change) but he made a whole new dish and for that I give them a 5 star! They also replaced the main with fish without any issues.
The food was really top notch and great marriage between East meets West
