The Reef — Local services in Rotterdam

The Reef is one of those coffeeshops that you walk into and immediately have the feeling of "the people know their stuff" and that's without even including the beautiful decor The Reef can boast about. And that all starts with the bouncer well dressed in what can only be described as Peaky Blinders x Rotterdam and the staff whose main issue seemed to be selling too much today (I wanted to try out the Super Runtz but sadly, only stems remained)

Their menu is widely varied and has everything from some good old Dutch haze to wizard boxes and everything in between

Today I went with the Zoap (if you want to know if a coffeeshop is good, try their base USA imports, Zoap, gelato, sherbet) which is excellent and something new, a hybrid called Rainbow Belts which was top notch. Prices are on point I have to say and I've paid wild amounts per g of Zoap.

So, take it from me, someone who's been around the block for a while and loves his high end flower. The Reef stacks up against New York but wins in its central location (just behind the city hall, instead of a subway trip and a 10 minute walk from central)...

It is the only coffeeshop where you can sit inside in Rotterdam and the employees make you feel that by their arrogance :) Normally, buying bud from the coffeeshop is enough to be able to sit inside, not here hahah you need to buy one food/drink per person. So let’s say you are a group of 5 and bought 5g’s of weed for all of you. You still need to buy 5 beverages to be let in… the weed is not bad but it’s not that special either, there are definitely better quality products in the city though. Last but not least, when I was leaving the place, it was raining like crazy so I was putting my coat hood at the entrance to protect myself. Apparently there is a “rule” that you can’t stand near the entrance (It was obvious that I was only there to fix my coat and gonna leave after) and the security was unnecessarily mean about it. Just because they are the only coffeeshop with a smoking area does not mean I have to endure all their sassiness, you would be better off and wayy happier by just buying weed somewhere else and smoking at...

Honestly, I was slightly disappointed with this place. From everything I saw online, it was one of the top recommended places. First of all, all the staff feel a bit unwelcoming towards me, especially the security guard stood outside, I was very polite to him however he had no respect for me whatsoever. After waiting in the que and several people pushing in front of me (staff wasn't really bothered by this) I finally asked budtender to look at the several strains I wanted to see, however was told that I won't be shown all the strains I wanted to look at as there was a que behind me so I'd have to be quick. I got to see the something zkittlez which deffinately wasn't zkittlez, didn't smell or look that nice at all. Had to settle for the frosted delight which was just alright, nothing special really. Originally I was going to have a smoke here but the whole vibe felt so unwelcoming that I just went back to my hotel instead. Shame as I would've spent most of my night here and probably tried several other things...
