THOMS Restaurant & Underground Bar — Restaurant in Rotterdam

We visited the restaurant on August 12th and were very satisfied.

The following day, after a city trip, we decided to return because of our positive experience the day before.

First, our orders were taken. Then an employee from the previous day approached us and asked if we had paid the bill on August 12th. The previous day's waiter replied in the negative.

At first, you're naturally unsure in such a situation, but we quickly came to the conclusion that we had paid in cash and therefore couldn't provide digital proof.

We weren't given a bill the day before.

Due to a language barrier on our part, the conversation was a bit confusing, but the basic idea was understandable.

The employee seemed quite demanding, didn't let up, and at some point, we became so annoyed and unsettled that we paid the supposedly outstanding bill.

The employee from the previous day gave us a wide berth during our stay, and only when he was forced to walk past us and we tried to address him about the situation did he wave us off with the statement "We changed the money" and a raised voice.

We reconstructed that the waiter had waved to us the day before as we left the restaurant.

Why didn't he approach us and ask about the outstanding payment, if that was really the case? And why wasn't he willing to discuss the matter with us personally?

In retrospect, it was certainly wrong to pay the supposedly outstanding bill, but we felt completely cornered.

The behavior of the employees was absolutely inappropriate. It seemed like an attempted fraud and cast a bad light on...

The best mixed platter I've ever had. The pork! Unfortunately the waiters were cocky and slow, probably covid hires. The female staff were completely different, fast and friendly. The wine selection wasn't too bad but needs an upgrade considering the price. I guess my review won't make a difference since they're in a good spot, people will keep coming anyway...as they should, the rest of the menu must be pretty good and the main staff must be doing their jobs well too. I was just not lucky this time. I'll be back for the burger and might change this review by then... No, scratch that. Having read the other reviews, apparently the service is notorious, and management doesn't seem to care. Not coming back since it's all too pricey to risk an evening being ruined. I hope the kitchen staff moves elsewhere, they deserve to be part of a...

One of the best spots to witness the vibing center of Rotterdam! Meent is a very busy street in the center of Rotterdam between the famous Markethal and the shopping center lijnbaan, in between you can find lots of shops, bars, restaurants and also THOMS.

Went here for lunch and found easily a table during the week on the huge terrace on the sidewalk. Staff is super friendly and let us check the menu and choose a table.

Lots of (non-alcoholic) drinks and a separate lunch menu, also available online! Also vegetarian options.

Drinks and food were served quite fast while enjoying the sun. Highly recommended also after work to meet friends/colleagues. Not recommended if you are looking for a more quieter place, otherwise you can try it inside.
