Honestly the highlight of my trip to Rotterdam. I don't know where to start, food? Incredible. Service? Unmatched with anything I've experienced in London. Drinks? Cherry in top of the cake. And the decor is beautiful. The saddest part of my trip was knowing I won't be able to come back to Little V and order EVERYTHING on the menu. I really regret not getting the chicken, the people next to me got it and i had major food envy. I got the bun chay, a stir fried veggie dish with vermicelli noodles and spring rolls. The veggies were crunchy and fresh, the noodles were perfectly cooked and the spring rolls a lovely addition to the big bowl. My partner got chicken spring rolls. The staff take the time to tell you the best way to eat each dish which is so lovely if them. I absolutely adored my email and was so sad I was unable to finish it because I was so full! But it was fantastic. The drinks menu was also brilliant and I struggled with what to choose, I went non alcoholic and got a home made lemonade with grapefruit and passionfruit. Absolutely lovely, sweet and refreshing with lots of ice! My partner got a saigon blush, I ended up drinking a fair bit of his as it was amazing and reminded me of sweets from my childhood! Like I said, the restaurant is beautiful, the interior is honestly stunning. The atmosphere is fun and buzzing. The staff are brilliant, work so hard and are Always on top of every little detail, the speed and efficiency is astounding, they were also all so friendly. My last comment is remember to let them know you want to tip as they won't ask or add any service onto your bill, but boy do...
Read moreThe food is always great. But despite the distance I prefer the The Hague branch. Why? Simply because of the staff and the service. It’s not my first time being disappointed by the staff in Rotterdam. Being a regular at both of their restaurants for 14 years now, my last visit in Rotterdam was truly the most disappointing one service wise.
The welcome and placement was not pleasant or to our wishes, even though there were more than enough similar vacant tables.
It seems logical not to keep your guests waiting for 10 minutes “to prepare their table” if there are 8 four seaters available at the same time. Mind you these were not filled within the first 30 minutes after our arrival.
And if it’s necessary to need 10 minutes to clean the table, it’s surprising that some seats are still dirty and we have to clean them ourselves, because there was no one in sight.
Our waiter was not well informed enough about the menu’s options regarding dietary restrictions, but that is not a dealbreaker. At the end of the day we are all human.
At the end of the evening we were interested in dessert, but we ended up waiting for more than 30 minutes without a waiter serving our table. Despite several nearby tables being serviced and we were trying to get the waiter’s attention. After 30 minutes I went to the bar myself and immediately wanted to pay. I’m very fond of leaving a tip, regardless of the circumstances, but with this poor display of service it would not be justified in any way.
From now on I’ll only be visiting the The...
Read moreWent here on a Tuesday evening with 8 coworkers. Since we were 8+ persons, we had to order a group menu. Not an issue for us.
We reserved well in advance and gave them our dietary restrictions. They asked us again about our dietary restrictions when we arrived, which I thought was considerate. However, the person seating us also asked us about our dietary restrictions. And, the person taking our order also asked us about our dietary restrictions. A bit much?
The starter was a mix of fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls and chicken salad. The starter was followed by a soup (pho?) which wasn't very flavourful. The soup was also too much noodle and too little protein. The main was lovely. We had a spread consisting of seabass [delicious], prawn & scallop curry [tasty, especially if you like coconut], chicken thighs, beef tenderloin and tofu with mixed veggies. Served with stirfried noodles and white rice. Dessert was either chocolate mousse or passionfruit cheesecake. The cheesecake was disappointing (it wasn't a cheesecake), but the chocolate mousse was good.
The cocktails were good. The Paloma was tasty, even though it did not have the promised smokey Mezcal flavour. It did take a very long time for our drinks to arrive. And, they forgot to bring some of our drinks two or...
