Because of all the brilliant reviews here we did a walk there along and were deeply diasppointed.

No idea, why people think these breads have something to do with German Bread. And the worst: all offered breads were burned. Not to buy!

Our recommendation for the owner: make a 3 year apprenticeship in Germany at a old-fashioned bakery and then come back and...

Twintig jaar geleden vertoefden wij aan de Côte d’Azur in een hotelletje waar eigenlijk alleen maar over geschreven wordt, maar wat je zelden vindt – uitzicht op een hemelsblauwe Middellandse Zee, vriendelijke bediening, fantastisch eten en eindeloos zonnige dagen. Ontbijten deden we er ook. Met verse jus, knapperig stokbrood en de beste croissants ooit. In de loop van die twintig jaar kregen deze croissants bijna mythische proporties: iedere croissant die we proefden werd tegen de Zuid-Franse concurrent aangehouden; stuk voor stuk gingen ze roemloos ten onder. Maar de zoektocht bleef. Ergens moest er toch een bakker bestaan die ze kon evenaren. Aangespoord door de enthousiaste reviews kochten we croissants bij Das Brot. We bewonderden de zichtbare laagjes, snoven verlekkerd de zoete botergeur op, namen een flinke hap en keken elkaar met grote ogen aan. Het is slecht concurreren met een herinnering, maar Das Brot kreeg het voor elkaar: we waanden ons weer even twintig jaar terug in de tijd.
