Royal Indian Tandoori Restaurant — Restaurant in Rotterdam

I have no other option to rate one star but I sincerely regret to rate even one star as well. Worst behaviour of the Muslim old man who is taking the orders there. Does not know properly to treat a customer. How is much person allowed as a waiter , I don’t understand. As a waiter who takes the orders from customer, should have patience, obedience, caring and empathy towards customers. But arrogant Muslim old man. Without understanding the customer situation, he made the customer to sit in a single chair table even though there is no space to move around that table, stupid Muslim old man. Next, he did not care to take the Order as well. Arrogant Muslim old man. Third, ready to take the payment but no greetings after the payment is made. Idiotic Muslim Old man. Fourth, while leaving the restaurant, customer thanked for the food and taste, but ignorant and no response from Cheapard Muslim Old man. The quality of food is below ok. The biryani Rice is roasted and served because it was prepared couple of days before I guess. What a pity such shameless and reckless restaurants are existing in Rotterdam. Shame on Royal Indian Restaurant. The restaurant faculty is not Indian but is an Indian restaurant , you guys (whoever you are)are spoiling the name of India....

I went here expecting a pleasant meal after a long hard day, however I was left stunned by how rude two of the waitresses were. Firstly, I felt that I was being rushed throughout in terms of making a decision on what dish to choose and then acting unprofessional by being annoyed that I hadn't yet chosen; despite only being there for 5 minutes. Then, they took my food away from me without asking if I'd finished, even though I still was eating. And overall, there seemed to be a tense atmosphere between us and the people serving us, whilst we felt rushed into finishing our food. Voor het eerst wat gegeten uit de Indiase keuken van Royal Indian Tandoori restaurant aan de Nieuwe Binnenweg van Rotterdam, aan de Westkant van het centrum Rotterdam. Het is aan te bevelen met het OV te komen. Tramhaltes en metrostation zijn dichtbij.

Het restaurant is gezellig ingericht met foto's, schilderijen, muziekinstrumenten en souvenirs uit India. We zaten aan een tafeltje bij het raam. Gezellig, maar wel wat krap. De bediening en kok zijn vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Je hoeft niet lang te wachten.

Het menu is vrij standaard met tandoori en de bekende Indiase curry's gesorteerd op scherpte. Helaas geen papadums vooraf, chutneys of salade bij het hoofdgerecht.

De mix grill tandoori smaakte goed. De sheek kebab was lekker knapperig aan de buitenkant. De Pathia curry was medium pittig, zoals op de kaart netjes stond aangegeven. Het meest verrast was ik door de palak paneer. De spinazie was goed vers en nog wat knapperig. Niet helemaal tot moes gekookt. De paneer was licht gebakken. De smaak was prima. Alle gerechten krijgen een lekkere topping van gebakken rode of groene paprika, ui en koriander. De garlic naan was erg lekker.

Ik had trek in een Falooda als nagerecht. Helaas was dat niet beschikbaar die dag. Dat gebeurt me te vaak bij Indiase restaurants: ik bestel een iets onbekender gerecht van de kaart en krijg te horen dat het er niet was. Toen maar gekozen voor cha wat ons lekker smaakte.

Tot slot de prijs van deze gerechten uit de Indiase keuken van Royal Tandoori: dat is heel positief. De prijzen voor mango lassi en chai behoren tot de goedkoopste on Rotterdam. De hoofdgerechten zijn gemiddeld.

Al met al lekker en voordelig gegeten. Wat mij betreft mag de kaart wat meer uitdaging bieden en daarmee onderscheid ten opzichte van andere Indiase...
