Not sure what the relationship with architecture is. The main floor was closed to change exhibitions so entrance was reduced to 8 Euro. Still unclear what I spent it on.
A staff member had to guide me through the storage spaces in the basement to get to the -1 exposition of …. first year art students playing with electronics? Finding the entry to the second floor was also a bit painful, more confusion about what the exhibition tried to do, and how it was related to architecture. Third floor was only 50% in use for an exhibit about a particular Japanese type of paper. The video about the steps in making the paper was interesting. Period.
The texts throughout the exhibits were mostly printed in 12 size font which, together with the low light made it challenging to read.
The only bonus is the included access to the Sonneveld house which is at the North East side outside the main building. A beautiful 1930’s design example of the Dutch Nieuwe Bouwen style. Now that is...
Read moreAMAZING Solar exhibition...with loads of serious history & ideas & inspiration to double down on our efforts...to save the flippin planet & our actual survival as human race... i left my contribution on A4 sheet as i got my energy consumption down to one third last winter ie by two thirds with i) pelmets 15-25% (hats over curtains) ii) shelf over rad & curtains iii) fleece lined my oma's curtain (giving them another 40 years of life) iv) aluminium foil (thick not kitchen) behind radiators (so it doesnt disappear into the wall & cosy as anything with "heat the person not the home" & my microwave hotties i) Wheaty bags & ii) All nighters. [BEWARE: Digital microwaves with 99mins are dangerous] oh & 7 layers of clothing designed to fit together with comfort incl gloves & socks. Last tip: feet get wet (hands dont) so if yr feet are cold CHANGE socks...then...
Read moreReally interesting and enriching exhibition. One really impressive fact is that they change their galleries whole time, so you can visit museum over again and see and learn new facts. When I have been there, they had opened three galleries. One related to AI, second to the Netherlands demography and it’s plan to make a sustainable living in the country threatened by sea level rising. The last one (with the uprising way to it covered by masterpieces about current and past century crisis) was composed by a lot of small exhibitions. In the last floor is a library with computers and in the first one is also a coffee with pastries and store with books about architecture...
