Boudewijn — Restaurant in Rotterdam

As a Belgian on day trip in Rotterdam I came across this place and had to go and see for myself if they made the Belgian dish to standard. Oh boy can I say I was not disappointed at all. I was hosted by a super sweet waitress called Emma and she had me sit in a private area in the back garden that was secluded and amazingly atmospheric to boot. Emma was super sweet and super helpful and performed her job perfectly. The Belgian stew I had with fries and a side salad was absolutely amazing and delicious. I can wholeheartedly recommend Belgian beer cafe Boudewijn and I will be coming back in the future. The chef even took a moment to ask if I was satisfied and I had a small talk with him. Super cool looking place. Wife and I walked in just after 9pm and it was pretty quiet. Sat at the bar and the bartender proceeded to ignore us for 10 minutes. We did notice that he was filling a drink order for a server so no big deal. Finished that and acknowledged us. Then he proceeded to fill the order of a young woman that walked up just then. Finished that and then proceeded to start filling the order of another woman that just walked up. Finally decided to just get up from the bar and leave. Terrible service, 100% do not recommend. This used to be one of my favourite spots in Rotterdam to have a beer and some food. Until tonight. Apparently the beer we ordered was out of stock. Instead of telling us, they gave us one with a similar name, but no quite the same (if you ask for ginger beer but don't taste the ginger, you know somethings up). Then we ordered a salad and it tasted really bad. Far from expected. Complaining didn't get a proper response. The food my friends had also didn't have the quality it used to have. Shame.
