I have been to restaurant Le Souq for the first time, a small restaurant at the Voorhaven in the oldest part of Rotterdam 'Delfshaven'.
The food is very tasty, new flavors to discover (it was my first time I had Libanese food), the meat was tender and there where enough vegetables, when you order you can say if you want fries or (very tasty) rice with your meal. We had starters "5 pieces mezze" and a main dish, our stomachs where full, no place for dessert, the portion you get is more then enough. The Libanese wine was a joy to drink. The waitress was very kind and when you asked something about the food she could answer you, right away without asking the chef. When we ordered the Libanese coffee she told us it also have kardemom in it and that is a taste you have to develop.
Vegetarians can eat very well in this cosy restaurant, there is enough to choose from and on the menu is written if it is vegetarian and information about gluten etc..
Prices are not very high at Le Souq so you can eat there without the fear of a heartattack when you get the bill. Definitely a place to visit, take a tour around beautiful Delfshaven and end with a lovely meal at Le Souq.
The restaurant is well to reach by subway or tram, when you go with public transportation it's just 10 min from...
Read moreoriental looking Dutch restaurant with tasteless and overpriced meze's. There are restaurants that serve high quality meze's for less in Rotterdam. Not authentic, unfortunately. Edit: the restaurant owner responded. She/he is stating that because they are originally from Lebanon, their food is authentic (This is not necessarily true. I originally come from the Middle East and have visited many Lebanese restaurants in Lebanon and worldwide, including NA and Europe. I can confirm that this restaurant's food looks like Lebanese food, but the taste is not. They also do not work with quality ingredients). Further the owner is asking me not to provide reviews here, because he/she claims I do not know anything about Lebanese kitchen (This is not true). The owner is also questioning the authenticity of my review, because I have provided 1 star reviews elsewhere (This is not a strong argument. If you see my account history, you will see that I do not promote certain restaurants and bash others). Clearly the restaurant owner is not mature enough to take criticism from their customers. This itself is a reason to...
Read moreIt is a nice restaurant The food taste 4 out of 5 The prices 2 out of 5 The settings 4 out of 5 Over all 2.8 out of 5 based on food quality and price
For non-Arabic it could be 4.5 out of 5
Anyway Enjoy your visit
My personal review had bothered the owner. I'm very sorry for my review.
However, It's known that dutch appreciate most of food. 👍 In general Lebanese food are higher in price compared to other arabic restaurants. Thank you for keeping your pricse to the same range and that also indicates that you already have enough profit to cover the high gas prices (expensive). Expensive for me is an indicator between 3 elements (quality, portion and taste)
Anyway, again sorry for my review but it is what it is.
Goodluck with your business and I hope you have more...
