Madam Chen — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Madam Chen is not organised at all. Finding the quality of service is under what they are being rated for. We called the restaurant 1 weeks ahead with a reservation by the karaoke area. ( since due to coivd every where you go you have to reserved) The deal was that we get a package deal of 450 euros with 12 people which include a few drinks and food in the karaoke area. The person on the phone was very informative and give us the deal and we agreed on it. But on the day of the event it was a total different story. First they forget drinks and bring wrong drinks to us. Then after 2 hours in the karaoke they say u have to order food even though is was in the package they promised us. In addition, during the 2 hour period we ask them " is the food coming?". They insisted " it will come in 15 minutes". But that 15 minutes became 45 minutes. Then we asked them again where is the food. They exclaimed that we have to order them, but why the hell you don't tell us earlier. Instead they leave us only 30 mins over for food. At the end we didn't eat there and left. it was very bad first experience. First and last for me. If you book there. Just be sure that you get an email confirmation with they offer or they will flash you like...

Don't go here!!! I went to Madam Chen for a birthday party last night and was completely shocked by the service and food. My friend reserved for a group of 12 people for a birthday “diner” and somehow the team forgets to tell us that the chef won’t be in? We could only order the side dishes, and half of them were out of stock. The crunchy crunchy teriyaki chicken that I ordered was cold, dry and definitely not freshly made (probably pre-heated from another day as the chef was not in). On top of that, the waiters were extremely unprofessional. Since restaurants should close at 10PM, we made our last orders around 9. By 9:10 the team requested we leave (since we were the last guests in the restaurant). All of us hadn’t finished our drinks and bites yet. After asking for more time, they turned off the lights and music and stood in front of our tables with coats, bags, scarfs ready to leave. We had to pay the bill immediately to get another 15min to finish our orders. It really was an unfortunate evening, especially since I’ve heard so many positive things about this place. Had a birthday dinner and drinks with a group of 10: firstly, no main dishes were available as the “chef was not present”, the food came 15 minutes apart from each other, some of the orders were wrong for which no apology was given. We were given the bill without asking, saying they were “closing” when it was 45 minutes before closing time. Then they told us that once we pay “we’d be lucky to have another 15 minutes to stay”. We did not tip because of the bad service, after which they got ‘mad’ and turned off the music & lights whilst we were still finishing our drinks. They then proceeded to stare at us from behind the bar until we would leave the restaurant. Very unfortunate as we have heard great things about this place from others, but the two servers that were serving us last night were not doing their job correctly, and hence we will not be returning...
