TLDR : world travel approved flavorful Asian bakery, bread, and drinks. 20/10 value. Credit card, PIN (debit) and cash accepted!
Background- this was right next to the hostel but the smell drew me in the first day I was here. I wanted a light cheap breakfast and was delightfully surprised by the flavor of the bread and meat and drinks!
As a Asian, and world traveler (31 countries, 26 US states) - and a Asian bakery fanatic, this is BETTER then San Fran, and arguable some Asian countries bakeries. I have been coming back here every morning since then.
10/10 me + SO Cha Siu Boa Loa - is a sweet and savory bbq bun. The great twist on the classic cha sui and sweet crispy top of the boa loa was amazing. Even I am not a big sweets person, I wanted more then one (3) PRO TIP HAVE THEM HEAT IT UP FOR YOU
10/10 me and SO: Egg Tart - this is a definite must try! If you ever get the chance, it really one of the better egg tarts I have tasted (better then 85 degrees and Paris bakery and some other dim sum places) having it heated too was nice 👌🏼
8/10 me & SO 10/10 Watercress lily - has a salted egg yolk inside which was flavorful, it’s a taste that is more traditional. It’s for some people, some not but definitely try it if you never had it before! (I’m not a big sweets but SO wanted it but I did enjoy it a lot)
10/10 Matcha milk tea no boba - I love my drinks more on the less sweet side and more bitter because it means quality and not watered down! I love getting it hot.
Service - the women were all amazing. They speak English, Dutch, Cantonese and Chiense. (If you guys are reading this!! I will miss you all and will come back to eat...
Read moreI don’t like to write negative reviews but this one is necessary. I ordered a birthday cake for 12 people, in a jungle theme. I had to pay 65€ so I thought it would be at least a decent cake. Reality was far from it. (1)The cake was super small, (2) the cake was very poorly decorated see photo, (3)it was not 2 layers as I requested, rather just one layer, and (4)the fruit filling I explicitly requested was missing. I was so ashamed when I opened that cake in front of my guests. Oh God. Later when I contacted Queenie about the requirements not being met, and that I want at least half of the cost refunded. She basically replied that sh* happens and you won’t get any money back. This is ridic-ulous. See the picture for yourself. I believe their baked good probably are good, but not the cakes for 65€. You will get your n8tmare and even be charged for it. Disappointing. Their business is not about offering value for customers, but making quick money.
The compensation offered was an extra layer of cream in my next order. Are they taking a piss at me? There will not be a next time with this...
Read moreOMG the best authentic and amazingly-priced Chinese bakery I’ve ever seen in Europe! We visited the area on a short trip and bought a few things to try out. They turned out super good 👍 so I had to go back before our trip ends! I ended up buying almost one of each item in the shop 😆 and they did NOT disappoint!! The soft buns are soft and tasty, the “crunchy” and savory ones are equally delicious! One thing that I like the most was a square fried pastry with flavored sticky rice in the middle. I don’t have a picture of it but it was in the section where the savory breakfast items were.
The lady behind the counter (I think she was the shop owner) was super nice and spoke Chinese. I seriously asked her to please open the same shop in Frankfurt 😆 sadly it’s not easy. So guys, if you’re visiting the Rotterdam city and you know you enjoy those pastries, don’t miss your chance! We will definitely come back on...
