Moving to a new place always comes with its challenges, but discovering The Tap & Still in Simpson Bay has been a delightful surprise, making our transition from New York to island life smoother and tastier! As a family with a young child and a baby on the way, finding family-friendly spots is crucial for us.
Our recent experience at The Tap & Still was nothing short of amazing. With our three-year-old son asleep in the car, we decided to grab a quick burger to go. But what we received was more than just a meal; it was an experience that left a profound impact on us.
Firstly, the service was outstanding. A wonderful lady from Syria attended to us with such warmth and kindness that it felt like we were being welcomed by a dear friend. Her genuine care and exceptional service were truly heartwarming. She went above and beyond, understanding our situation with a sleeping child in the car, by bringing our order right to us. This level of service is rare and something we will always remember.
Now, let's talk about the burger – simply delicious! It was evident that it was made with love. The meat was cooked to absolute perfection, the bun was excellent, and every bite was a reminder of what a real, freshly made burger should taste like. It's incredible to think that this culinary delight cost us only $9, a stark contrast to the $22 burgers we were used to in New York.
The Tap & Still is a gem in Simpson Bay. It's not just about the food or the prices; it's the whole experience. The warmth, the quality, and the care they put into their service and culinary creations make this place stand out. We feel fortunate to have found such a spot and are excited to become regulars here. Thank you for making our family feel so welcomed and for providing an experience that goes beyond just dining. You have won over some New Yorkers, and we can't wait...
Read moreMy partner and I have always loved going to Tap & Still and have previously had very good food and service, more specifically in St Thomas. We have been to the restaurant in SXM multiple times as well over the past few years and never had any problems until this Sunday evening. My boyfriend asked to make a small change to his burger and offered to pay extra for it. Although it had never been an issue here or in any of the other locations before and he orders the same every time, The front of house staff wasn’t sure, but they were nice about it and brought over the manager to see if he could approve this. The manager was very threatening and rude from the beginning and told us that we could not make any changes. We tried to explain that we were happy to pay extra for it and had not had any issues doing so previously, and were a bit confused by the hostility. He then began shouting at us and yelling to other customers about our order, disturbing their dining experience as well. We decided to just leave the order and go elsewhere and he followed us out, yelling at us to come back and wanting to physically fight with my boyfriend. It was a very uncomfortable situation and we were shocked to see someone in a managerial position behave so unprofessionally towards their guests. Had I been there alone I would have felt scared for my safety. I hope that nobody else has to experience this and can thankfully say that this is the only Tap & Still restaurant in the Caribbean to have received less than excellent service. Be safe...
Read moreWe were attracted by the happy hour special, where many drinks are $3. The server explained that this was a sports bar, and they had limited alcohol selections. I note this as I like whiskey and they only had a few available. We don't drink beer, but I imagine this is what many customers enjoy here. We ordered drinks, wings (very tasty), fries, and hot dogs. You order the food by circling what you want off their disposable menus, so you can customize to your hearts desire, The service is friendly, the prices good, and the location is along the main street with many other restaurants, stores, and our resort, so very walkable for us. The hot dogs were cut both horizontally and vertically resulting in 4 pieces and served on a hot dog bun. These looked and tasted much like Oscar Meyer hot dogs, which was okay, but both my wife and I would have preferred they be cooked more and caramelized as this would have added more flavor and some level of crunchiness. Next time we go, we plan to try...
