We unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. From the beginning on, we really did not feel welcomed. There was no introduction by anyone in the restaurant - neither to who was in charge of us for that evening nor of the concept of the restaurant. The first contact after being seated was a waiter trying to sell us an aperitif - all without us even knowing what the evening would bring and how the menu or wine menu looked. (The wine menu has a calculation of 5 btw) The courses were okay, but all not overwhelming. The plating was visually appealing. However, literally every course had some sauce that was poured over it - super boring and really not out of the box anymore. Staff was not aligned in how to pour those sauces - we observed at other tables that some team members poured it around the course, some over it, some waiters made small sauce "dots". The service was extremely impersonal - we had at least 5 different people serving us. We left the restaurant without knowing any names of any team members - pretty unusual in good restaurants nowadays. New cutlery was provided after every course, but there was a mistake almost every time (knife wrong way around, fish knife for vegetarian person, etc.) The female owner of the restaurant was particularly dispassionate and neither engaging nor supportive throughout the evening, even though we tried to engage in a conversation with her because we were curious to find out more about the restaurant. The courses took extremely long to be served, we received our dessert at 11:00 PM, even though we arrived at 7:20 PM. Bread was only served after 3 amuse, butter was already sitting on the table when we arrived. So we were sitting in front of that butter for 1,5 hours until we got some bread - weird!
Overall a very disappointing experience, especially for this...
Read moreI'd say of the seven courses only one (the dessert) was really good. If course you cannot really argue taste but my girlfriend mostly agrees with 2 out of seven being really good for her. Michelin might like them well enough to include them but we do not. Presentation of the dishes was excellent, there is not much noise and service is good as well so if you just want a fine dining experience and do not care about taste so much it's certainly an option. Just don't arrive twenty minutes early because they'll be happy to show you the door if you do.
Update: I feel compelled to respond. do have a phone and I arrived 17:38. What the respondent claims of me arriving more than 30 minutes early is not true. As for the rest of it, I was really tired after staying up after a nightlong flight to beat the jetlag so having to sit through a seven course dinner would have been punishment even if it had been good. As for me not 'responding'. Waiters at such places usually stand exactly where you can't see eye to eye with them so I thought they were sending the message 'please don't talk to us, just listen to this explanation and enjoy your dinner'. Which was great because I was tired. Perhaps I could have said more. Thought that was part of the service, about which I have exactly zero complaints. Maybe I should have said more? Sure I would have been better served with a pizza in my state but it is certainly not for myself I visit such places. Usually they're very good though. This is to me a bit of an exception because the food served was bland which would have earned a critical review at any...
Read moreWe went for our wedding anniversary, and while we would go again, it would not be for such a special occasion, especially one that may have time constraints due to other planned activities.
Positives: Great vegetarian menu, creative food, knowledgeable polite staff, would go again under certain conditions.
Negatives: No view of any kind. A 1.5-2 hr dinner takes nearly 3 hours to be served. We found ourselves asking where our next course was. It seems like they are trapped in a model where regardless of when you begin your dinner (say 7:PM vs others that begin at 8:15) eventually they try to cluster the preparation of as many similar dishes as possible, creating a situation where the wait staff nervously watch the tables of earlier diners, knowing they've been waiting quite a while. Part of the longer service time may also be their wait staff-to-table ratio, there were only 3 working. I also realize that part of this experience is that we're Dutch-American, and the idea of a "relaxing dinner" is quite different between the two countries. If you love relaxing with friends or family for three hours over an experiential dinner, this is not a problem at all. If you have activities planned, smaller children or would like to get out and do something after dinner, it may be an issue and you should perhaps choose a smaller 3...
