We would like to share our recent experience at Chez Fleur and that it left room for improvement. While the restaurant's location and open-air design are nice, with the folding doors that merge indoor and outdoor seating area's, other aspects fell short of expectations.
The service, though friendly, seemed disorganized. Our order was messed up, and it did not surprise us, with a salad that we ordered with chicken arriving sans chicken. The staff appeared somewhat unfamiliar with the menu and table assignments.
The menu itself is limited, particularly for kids, so if you plan to go with kids, think twice. The food quality didn't quite match the price point which made it overpriced.
The salad lacked balance, with an overabundance of cheese and dressing but a scarcity of advertised ingredients like anchovies, there was just 1 in the entire salad. That combined with forgetting the chicken made it a disappointment. The quiche was plain, and it's worth noting that the salad does not come with bread, not even a single slice, so if you want bread there is a separate charge.
While we appreciate the potential of Chez Fleur, there are areas that need attention. Perhaps a menu revamp and/or improved service coordination could significantly enhance the dining experience.
As it stands, the lovely setting is the restaurant's strongest feature, however, it doesn't quite live up to the high standards of fine French cuisine one...
Read moreLooked like a super nice new cafe in the neighborhood. The design is really great and the atmosphere. But the service…
The waitress looked quite lost while taking our order. We asked for 2 cappuccinos, one with cow milk, the other one with oat milk, pain au chocolat and some bread with butter (which arrived frozen 😂 but ok).
When she brought coffee to our table, we assumed she knew which one is which. She didn’t ask again, so we drank. She was lucky I don’t have an allergic reaction but I do have difficulties with cow milk and it was very unpleasant.
There weren’t a lot of occupied tables, so I wonder how come she could forget so fast or she expected us to try coffee ourselves and then switch? Lol Very unprofessional, especially for a place that is not very cheap.
Then, we tried to say it to another waitress and order one more cappuccino with oat milk but she seemed quite new and barely understood us. Then, she brought one more coffee which tasted again like cow milk, they assured us it was oat but after so many misunderstandings I didn’t trust them much.
We didn’t need to pay for 1 extra coffee (which was very mediocre and for 5 euros) but it didn’t really make our experience better....
Read moreWow, what a find this place is! The restaurant serves outstanding mediterranean style cuisine, lunch and dinner, in a beautiful modern restaurant on a stunning elegant street. We went for a 3 course tapas lunch. We had the smoked mackerel rillettes, truffled polenta fries and herbed falafel. All were beautifully presented and tasted outstandingly good. As an added bonus, wine by the glass was very good. Overall, outstanding food, beautifully presented in a wonderfully modern restaurant at a very reasonable price, all served by very pleasant staff. I definitely intend to go back for dinner, they have a very tempting tasing menu on offer.
You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Google have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places/services that make me happy and appreciate life. Sure, I have been to some really dreadful shops, hotels and restaurants etc., but, like I said, life is too short to spend time thinking and...
