We visited Toko Bali on Fahrenheitsstraat and were genuinely impressed. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. But what really stood out was the exceptionally friendly and attentive service. It was a real pleasure to have the menu explained and chat a bit with the staff – you can tell they truly enjoy what they do.

The concept is simple and great: you create your own mix bowl – for example, two types of meat, two vegetables, and a base like jasmine rice, fried rice, or noodles. Optional toppings include a chili-soaked boiled egg, tempeh or tofu, and a lovely garnish of toasted coconut flakes. There's also a tasty sambal available on request. At around €16 for a regular bowl, the price is more than fair considering the quality and portion size.

There are just two small suggestions for improvement – neither of which take away much from the experience: The food is reheated in a microwave. It doesn't really affect the flavor, but you can feel it a bit in the texture – especially the rice. The interior could be a bit cozier or more traditionally styled. It’s clear that this place is primarily geared towards take-out.

Conclusion: With just a bit more ambiance and a different reheating method, it would be a perfect 5-star experience. Still, considering the excellent taste, great service, and fair pricing, this place totally deserves five stars.

Tera Makasi! We’ll...

This spot is a true hidden gem where passion for food and culture shines through in every bite. The staff are incredibly friendly, open, and thoughtful, creating an authentic and comforting atmosphere.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with lunch here before heading to the beach, and it was perfect.

Thank you so much! We’ll definitely be back on our next visit...

Great Indonesian food! (And this is coming from someone born and raised in Indonesia 😉). I especially loved their rendang (not photographed here) and telur balado, but everything else was also really good. I think the nasi kuning could’ve been a bit more fragrant, but it was still nice overall. Good price for portion and quality value, will definitely...
